Thoughts on Superman Returns

  • They did the right thing by using an unknown for Superman.  Brandon Routh did a great job adding a bit of mystery to the character.
  • ANYONE is an upgrade from Margo Kidder.  Kate Bosworth was kinda hit or miss, but overall I think she did allright.
  • Kevin Spacey is everything you would expect, just pure greatness.
  • I think the movie did a great job of paying homage to the Christopher Reeves’ Superman movies by using Marlon Brandow’s voice.
  • What makes this works is that isn’t a remake.  Superman has been gone for five years because there was a chance he would find survivors from his home planet so he went-a-looking.  Not quite so happy about Lex’s overall scheme and how Superman took care of things, but it was still good.
  • The first action seen couldn’t have been more American:  Space exploration, U.S. Air Force, Superman, Baseball, and something else I feel like I’m leaving out.
  • I was able to see the 3:45 showing so there wasn’t a crowd in our theater, which was fairly large.  There was a total of 16 people in the theater, and some punk decided to sit right in front of me.  I let out a big sigh and got up, at which time he apologized.  This dude needs to be updated on theater manners.  He would have sat in any open seat, there were plenty, but nooooooooooo – he had to sit right in front of me.
  • I’m sure some very conservative folks will be pretty upset with this movie.

lol, I can’t stand that either, the whole theater is has open seats and they deside to sit right in front of you. Just be thankful he didn’t sit right next to you with no empty seat between you two.
