The Sacred Echo
Chapter 1: I Love You
This chapter is exactly what the title says, I love you. God tells us this over and over again in scripture. We know God loves us, but He wants us to really experience His love. Someone can tell you they love you, but until they show you that love through words and deeds it is hard to experience that love. God wants us to experience His love. Margaret Feinberg writes, “The adventures of Jesus are not merely story; they are experiential.†Sure we read the stories in the Bible about Noah and the Ark, God parting the Red Sea, walking on water, and much more and think that must have been really cool, but have you ever taken the time to really think about how those were real people and what they must have said, physically felt, and seen? They were truly experiencing God’s love!
The one thing that I would like to take away from this chapter is to truly experience God’s love. I want it to be “alive in my heart so that I become freer to love others. Alive in my mind to be better at expressing that love and alive in my life to become a smidgen closer to being who God has called and created me to be.â€

MILAN (Reuters) – Andrea Pininfarina, head of the company which designs Ferraris, Fiats and the Ford Focus, died in a road crash in the early hours of Thursday near the Italian city of Turin, riding his Vespa scooter.
Pininfarina, 51, was chairman and chief executive of the company founded in 1930. He was the grandson of founder Battista “Pinin” Farina and his death prompted speculation that the entrance of new investors will speed up, sending its shares sharply higher.

Two years ago I read a strange little story in an obscure American magazine for Orthodox Jews, claiming that a descendant of Adolf Hitler had converted to Judaism and was living in Israel. I had heard rumours in Jewish circles for years about “the penitents” – children of Nazis who become Jews to try to expiate the sins of their fathers. Could it be true? I dug further and discovered that a man with a family connection to Hitler does indeed live in Israel as an Orthodox Jew. Virtually unnoticed in the English-speaking world, he was exposed seven years ago in an Israeli tabloid. Then he sank from sight. I went to Israel to meet him – and on the way I was plunged into the strange subculture of the Nazi-descended Jews.

An Atlanta actuarial firm says both presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama “can reasonably be expected to serve two full terms in good health.â€
But just barely.
The 30-year-old Bragg actuarial company, which specializes in morbidity and mortality calculations, gives 71-year-old McCain a “healthy expectancy†of 8.4 years, taking into account his four bouts with melanoma of the skin.
Barack Obama, who turned 47 today, can expect 21.9 years of good health — a forecast shortened by 10 percent or so by his history of cigarette smoking.
“Either candidate can be expected to serve two full terms, without age or health being an issue,†said John M. Bragg, the firm chairman.
The company drew a distinction “health expectancy†and the more usual term “life expectancy.â€
“In this analysis, ‘healthy’ means the person does not require the care provided by an assisted living facility and is free of Alzheimer’s disease,†Bragg said.

On April 18, 2008, the United States Postal Service issued a new set of definitive stamps featuring beautiful paintings of an American Flag flying in the breeze. The images, captured at different times of the day show the flag flying at sunrise, at midday, at sunset, and at night…
Close examination of the “evening” stamp, located in the lower-right quadrant of the official design featured on the U.S.P.S. website, reveals that the stamp apparently has one too many stripes.

A two year old bulldog is being hailed as a super dog hero after saving four kittens from drowning in a lake in mid Michigan.
His owner was at first upset with Napoleon after he abruptly bolted across a street and into the lake only to retrieve a bag.
Alexandra Breuer thought he was just grabbing a sac of garbage but then heard the meows coming from inside.
Turns out there were six kittens in the bag and someone was evidently trying to kill them. Two of kittens didn’t make it but the other four will always have Napoleon, the super dog, to thank.
