Taking the week off

I think I’m going to take the week off and not post anything this week. There are a few things I’m trying to work out. Hopefully, regular blogging will commence next week.

  • It’s been at least two decades since I have purposely tried to tan my skin. I just don’t make it to the pool or beach often, not to mention, there’s the fear of skin cancer.
  • Hazing of any type really, really bothers me. It’s one reason why I have an extreme hatred towards Greek organizations at colleges.
  • As I’ve said before, I avoid using the word “hate” before divorce. In fact, if you search this website, other than quoting the word, I never used it. To me, it was just such a strong word. But since the divorce, I use the word frequently because I finally found an appropriate use of the word for myself.
  • I’m amazed by Tony Gwynn stats. I see them all the time on Twitter. Here’s one – Fourteen players have already struck out 100 times this season, led by Kyle Schwarber with 117. Tony Gwynn struck out 188 times during the entire decade of the 90s.
  • Sometimes I like to use emojis to lighten things up. Those are easy to find and use on the phone but can be a challenge using the computer version of a messaging system. To help me with that, I searched and found emojipedia.org, which easily lets you cut and paste them. It’s also a great source to find the meaning behind emojis.
  • They had a bar? – Toronto police closing bar at headquarters
    • A licensed fully stocked bar inside a lounge for senior officers at the Toronto Police Service’s headquarters is being closed, police confirmed to CBC Toronto on Sunday. The decision comes after CBC Toronto reported an officer entered the lounge hours before being charged with impaired driving.
  • No Discipline for Texas Judge who referred to Latino defendants as “Wetbacks” Texas judicial commission says remark by Judge Allen Amos was “not necessarily appropriate” but also not punishable.
  • I guess it would be like using a sail? – Giant kites could pull cargo ships across the ocean – and slash their carbon emissions
  • Dallas will get Voodoo Doughnut, a famous Portland shop
  • New ‘Barney’ film in development to be adult-focused
    • An executive for the project, Kevin McKeon, told The New Yorker that “Barney” will be an “A24-type” film, serving as a nostalgic moment for the millennials who grew up watching the 1990s PBS series “Barney & Friends.”“We’re leaning into the millennial angst of the property rather than fine-tuning this for kids,” McKeon said. “It’s really a play for adults. Not that it’s R-rated, but it’ll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being 30-something, growing up with Barney—just the level of disenchantment within the generation.”
  • House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan plans to push a rider to an appropriations bill that would strip funding from the FBI unless it relocates its headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama
  • Replacing a lost wheel on another airplane during flight. Staged or not, the feat is impressive.
