The Andre The Giant Show

Since I was a wrestling fan as a child in the 80’s, I found this hilarious.

In this episode Andre talks to Bryan Cogman, a writer and producer on the hit HBO series Game Of Thrones. The guys cover a bunch of topics including, what it’s like to work on Game Of Thrones, girl problems, and Andre’s favorite actress

  • That guy dressing up as Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt at the World Cup has a great bit going.
  • I was never fond of the In-N-Out Burger fries because they tasted a bit undercooked, but I recently learned you can order them well-done.  Verdict . . . big improvement.
  • If there’s one thing I’m consistent at, it’s failing to consistently eat healthy.
  • During the Red Sox and Yankee game last a Red Sox had his first major league at bat and the camera turned to his mother who popped out her camera phone to video record the event, I don’t know why she didn’t just DVR the game.  I can understand snapping a pic, but you could tell she was videoing the entire thing.
  • I’m a big fan of the survival show ‘Naked and Afraid‘ and one of the first things most of the contestants talk about is how rough the terrain is on their bare feet.  That makes me wonder why they don’t walk around barefoot almost everywhere a few months before embarking on their adventure to build up the callouses on their feet to make walking more bearable.
  • When my wife’s family visited last week, they actually took a train from Mineloa and got on DART from Union Station.  You East Coast and Chicago folks might think no big deal, but that’s hardly done around these parts.  The trip only took about an hour and fifteen minutes, maybe an hour and half, and they seemed to enjoy the ride and avoid traffic.  The big down side was the train was delayed for three hours, but thankfully they got a text alert before they left their house in Lindale.
  • My wife is from Lindale, TX (population 5.149) and strangely enough my sister’s husband is also from Lindale.
  • My mother-in-law is now a septuagenarian and there’s one thing I really give her credit for, she’s not scared of technology and tries to embrace it to make her life easier and more enjoyable.  Sure, she has some of “those” questions from time to time, but I’ve heard worst asked by people younger than me and I admire her curiosity and courage.
  • When I was in high school the one thing I really wanted to be selected for was Texas Boys State and was bummed when I was passed over, but now it seems to be in some trouble – “Cold Beer and Titties”: Sexism at Texas Boys State Conference
  • When Lincoln saved the union and freed the slaves, five ex-presidents tried to stop him
  • This weekend I caught an interview with graphic novelist, zombie enthusiast, and son of Mel Brooks, Max Brooks.  In the interview he was asked what it was like to be brought up by a World War II parent.  Immediately I was hooked because my father was a World War II parent who had me late in life.  At times I use to resent that, because at his age and with his health, he never really didn’t anything like play catch with, but I have ton of memories, experiences, and lessons taught to me that much younger parents from a different generation couldn’t provide.  Unfortunately, I only appreciated that well after his death.  But upon some research, Mel Brooks is three years older than my dad, and Max Brooks is three years older than me, so in a weird sort of way, I’m now have a little more appreciation of the Brooks family than I once had.  I always thought my situation was so unique no one was like me, but now, I oddly feel comforted.

30-Year-Old Amelia Earhart Will Fly the Path of Her Namesake

It’s just my little opinion, but this Amelia Earhart is a tad bit better looking than the first Amelia Earhart.

She also use to do traffic reports in Denver.

Here’s an article about her and the flight she just embarked on.

That CBS News article states she not related to her namesake, but this USA Today article says they are distant relatives.
