Bag of Randomness

  • I may have never been to war but I’ve been through the gates of Hell and back.  For some reason I agreed to go to Grapevine Mills Mall with WifeGeeding and the kids on tax-free weekend.  I’ve never been much for shopping on tax-free weekend, saving about eight bucks for every hundred bucks spent isn’t worth dealing with all the crowds, and back to school sales will still be going on anyways.
  • The mall had a dark maze attraction in a store that I’m sure a lot of teens have got “lost” in.
  • There aren’t a bunch of “good” restaurants in my hometown of Mineral Wells, but El Paseo was been a favorite.  SisterGeeding was missing a bit of our hometown and while we decided not to make the whole drive, we drove to the Keller location.  On the way back we drove through the backroads of Westlake and Southlake an amazing house that was one part Disney castle and one part Wayne Manor.  Trulia had quite an interesting description for that ZIP code that told me I was in the wrong neighborhood:  The average list price for ZIP code 76092 is $934,340.
  • I took a look at the bbq smokers at our local Academy and while walking down a main aisle that was packed heavily and high with display items a little girl ran across which wasn’t out of the norm.  But what was out of the norm was an old blonde woman who darted directly in front almost causing a collision.  She came so close to running into me at such a fast rate of speed I was startled, let out a loud “AHHHH”, and put my hands up right against my chest with palms facing out to protect me and to show that I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.  Oddly the woman turned grabbed both of my wrists tightly and just started to laugh, and you can tell from this woman’s voice she’s been smoking since kindergarten.  I gave her this weird look but she keep holding on to my wrists tighter and tighter.  I asked her to let go but she couldn’t hear me through her laughter, I asked again, and she still didn’t let go.  Finally, I yelled “LET. GO. OF. ME.” and she finally succomed but fell to the ground laughing and apologizing.
  • A somewhat interesting video from ‘CBS This Morning’ of how well water around Fort Worth is drying up.  It costs about ten grand to drill and install a pump, and some folks are buying water storage units.
  • Google is giving you a chance to make a free custom 3-D printed bracelet, shipping is free as well.
  • One of my favorite ‘The X-Files’ episodes aired last night and stopped down to watch it – “Clyde Bruckman’s FInal Repose”.  That’s the one with the old man from ‘Everyone Loves Raymond’ and the “autoerotic asphyxiation” kills me everytime.

  • John Oliver actually did some ’60 Minutes’ type of investigation regarding pay day loan operations in Texas on last night’s ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’.
