  • My right foot is a full size smaller than my left foot.  For the longest time when shoe shopping I’d only try one on the right foot, and if it felt good I’d buy it.  Soon after, I’d wear the new pair and start to wonder why they hurt so bad, not realizing it was really only my left foot giving me problems or thinking something was wrong with the other shoe.  The epiphany came one day in college while sitting on the floor with my legs stretched out with the phone on my ear listening to a girl jabber on about dating Jesus.  I just happened to have both heels on the floor right next one another when I saw the difference.
  • I always thought the insect exoskeleton or shell I found outside in the summers were locusts but someone told me they were actually cicadas.  I spent a few minutes on the Internet and I’m still not sure if I’m right or wrong, but I did find some pictures of girls wearing those shells, an abundance of them, in their hair.
  • I wish we had fireflies in the area, I think I’ve only seen three in my entire life between time in Mineral Wells, Abilene, and DFW.
  • The guy that created the original Chili’s and Tia’s has just opened his first BBQ joint.  It’s in Richardson and is named Ten 50, here’s an article about it.
  • The world’s largest backyard swimming pool is in Texas.  The $300 pool has a lazy river which makes it awesome.  I actually saw this one on a HGTV special on the world’s most extravagant pools but I can’t remember where this one landed on the list, but I do remember it was a rich oil man that wanted it build in record time that caused the construction company to work 24 hours a day and they had to bring water in by 18-wheelers to fill it, which took two full days.  I think he wanted it done for Memorial Day or something.
  • GIF – I’m surprised at how playful this fish is with its owner.  It’s almost adorable.
  • This VW Beetle is pretty cool looking.
  • Bono will be on the next Michael W. Smith Christmas album.  I recall looking at the acknowledgments and special thank yous on one of the latest U2 albums and they specifically thanked Smith.
  • I remember having a conversation in college that the W in Michael W. Smith was quite important because “Michael Smith” just doesn’t have a good ring to it.  For I while I tried to go by Keith W. Geeding but that never really caught on.  The W, in case you are wondering, stands for Walter which was my father and his father’s name, as well as my brother’s middle name.
  • I had friends in college that would go to dance clubs on the weekends.  Actually, they wouldn’t go on, they’d wait outside and witness to people as they walked to their cars.
  • What’s The Best Electric Razor? – I used an electric razor a few times but it never cut the hair on my throat area well.  As expensive as razors can be, I’d hate to buy one only to find the same problem.

    • That’s one heck of shot to the family jewels if one swells to four times the normal size and you have to go to the hospital.
    • It’s interesting seeing Brian Cox as a coach after being a bit of a controversial player.
  • I’m not a fan of this current trend of wearing crazy and colorful socks, especially with dress clothes.
  • Jimmy Fallon seems like the happiest person in America.  He did a heck of a Robin Williams impression last night and had a ‘House of Cards’ skit with a surprise guest that I thought was pretty clever.  I don’t want to give any of it away, but the skit should be available on his YouTube channel.
  • The new Toyota Sienna will make it easier to yell at your kids, “The available Driver Easy Speak feature uses the vehicle’s built-in microphone to amplify the driver’s voice through the rear speakers so parents don’t have to shout to passengers in the back.”

  • I’ve been in the doldrums for the last ten days or so.  Unfortunately it’s starting to show as four-year-old DaughterGeeding grabbed my hand and said, “Daddy, you like kinda sad or maybe kinda mad.  What’s wrong, is there something I can do?”  I think a lot of it has to deal with this week being my late mother’s birthday and I’m just kind of reminiscing about things.  Now that I think about it, the first two weeks of August contains the birthdays of both of my late parents and my late best friend.
  • The problem with depression is that the more depressed you are, the more you feel like your problems are pathetic and not worth anybody’s time.  The times when you are capable of asking for help, you’re at your least worst, and so you feel like you’re exaggerating or attention seeking. – Source (Reddit)
