  • I found a Groupon to the local Holocaust museum.  There’s something a tad uncomfortable about that.
  • All Of David Letterman’s “Late Show” Videos Have Been Removed From YouTube And CBS’s SiteUpdate: Because CBS doesn’t own the copyright anymore.
  • Opening Monday in Plano: Burgers and barbecue restaurant called Hickory
    • It will showcase several barbecue styles from Texas, Kansas City, and the Carolinas.
    • Diners can also order burnt ends a la carte, though they’re not on the menu. (Call it a secret.)
    • The Texas Roadhouse Burger is a beef patty (made of brisket, short rib and chuck), topped with smoked cheddar and caramelized onions and served on Texas toast.
    • Three dollar tacos.
  • I’m always laughingly irritated when that Wise County blogging lawyer beats me to news about my hometown of Mineral Wells, but he did so yesterday and it made WFAA news.
    • Nine players that will play varsity football when school starts have quit in protest because the coach named his son as starting quarterback.  I get why that might be done on the NFL level, but you’d think you could hold back on such a thing before even the first preseason game or two-a-days.  Not to mention, there’s no idea who might move to town and prove capable.
    • I was really good friends with the mother of the kid that got benched.  If the kid is anything like his mother, I can easily see why so many were in support of him.
    • Many students spoke at a school board meeting, which I thought took courage, something I’m not sure I could have done back in the day, though I think my friends would disagree.  I was also impressed from the pictures and the parts of the video that’s posted, none of them wore shorts, t-shirts, or jeans, they all dressed respectfully.
    • The coach looks a bit like a chubby Mike Leach.
    • The coaches son is named Tristan? I never heard of that name before.  Wikipedia lists several “famous” people with the name, and it became popular because one of the Knights of the Round Table in the King Arthur stories carries the name.  But I do feel for the kid, I’m sure he’s getting a lot of “daddy’s boy” taunts.
    • One of the kids may have gone a bit far about their protest somewhat comparing themselves to Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. and George Washington.  But hey, the kid has passion, and I’ll give him that.

  • Twitter removing the 140 character limit from DMs in July – DMs will seemingly be able to run as long as you’d like, turning it into much more of a typical instant message and group chat service.
  • Dog dies and child mails letters to the dead dog, the mailman writes back pretending to be the dog.
  • CBS11 has a new commercial showcasing their new traffic chick reporter.  She doesn’t seem as personable as Tammy Dombeck, but she’s not as artificial looking as Whitney Drolen.  She’s also a former Arizona Cardinals cheerleader. For some reason, it appears you have to be a blonde to fill the position.
  • I saw a funny tweet about ‘Mad Men’ recently but can’t find it.  It was referencing the time Sterling Cooper (or whatever they were called at the time) lost Lucky Strikes and Don wrote a letter that was published in the paper about why they were leaving tobacco, health concerns.  This tweet referenced that McCann Erickson lost Coke and Don wrote a letter that was published in the paper that they left the soft drink industry due to diabetic concerns.
