First of all, I want to wish loyal reader, Brent, a very happy birthday.

Second, I’d like to wish WifeGeeding a very happy birthday.

Third, sorry for the lack of posts, but it’s hard coordinating the marching band, sky writer, flash mob, and Neil Diamond to all show up in one place for WifeGeeding’s birthday.

• Upon entering the garage and opening it yesterday morning, WifeGeeding and I both smelled a strong odor we thought was natural gas.  After a cursory look-over, we call Atmos and they had someone over in about fifteen minutes.  The Atmos employee couldn’t have been friendlier or more professional, and was extremely thorough in his inspection.  Thankfully he didn’t find any leaks and he fine tuned a few things since he was here.  None of us could figure out the smell, and it hasn’t come back.
• We took a family trip to Wal-Mart yesterday and I was surprised at the number of people I saw vaping inside with those e-cigarette type devices.  We also spotted a Lunchable with green mold that had a sell by date of June 1, 2015.
• I just want to go on record that I offered the starting NFL lineman in our neighborhood ear protection as he worked on his dually that kept honking when messing with the battery.  Don’t blame me if he false starts because of bad hearing, I tried.
• My father-in-law told me I could invite any of my friends to hunt on his land in East Texas, so I extended that invitation to our NFL lineman neighbor.  He appreciated the gesture but stated he owns hunting land in both East and West Texas.
• One more note about him, he’s currently beardless, but his wife hates it, so it will be back by training camp.
• I took advantage of Amazon’s 30-day free trial of their Prime service to check out their Prime Day sale that was supposed to put Black Friday to shame.  Prime Day was a very underwhelming experience.
• This is the most impressive mini-van I’ve ever seen.

• This quote about Tesla Motors from Gov Abbott stuck out, “If you’re going to have a breakdown in a car, you need to have a car dealership there to make sure that the vehicle is going to be taken care of. We haven’t seen that from Tesla.”  According to Tesla’s website, there are three service stations in Texas.  Part of me thinks when the company decided not to choose Texas to build their battery plant, not allowing direct sales was a bit of retribution.

• Earlier this week the last snow pile in Boston finally melted.  I expected a lot of dirt and trash to be in that pile, but I wouldn’t have expected “storm drain covers, catch basin covers, more than a handful of fire hydrants.”

• If my father was alive, we certainly would have watched the All-Star Game together that took place in his native Cincinnati.  But since he wasn’t around, his granddaughter was nice enough to watch the first few innings before bedtime, even though she expressed her preferred viewing choice was for something animated.
• While we were reading bedtime stories we kept hearing a lot of honking outside the window as if someone was trying to get our attention.  It turns out it was nothing but an NFL lineman working under the hood of his dually.
• The BagOfNothing community isn’t very big at all, but I really like it and thankful for those who comment and how they keep things jovial and respectful.  It’s been a goal to create a positive community, but also one in which we can disagree and learn from other points of view.  Not everyone agrees, but most disagreements here are constructive and provide insight.  Seriously, I appreciate it, and a lot of times you make my day.
• Speaking of this website, the domain name and hosting services expire on August 11, and I keep forgetting to renew it.  It’s one of those things I keep telling myself I’ll get around to but keep putting it on the backburner.
• I took our little fur-children to get their scheduled vaccinations and a check-up.  DaughterGeeding tagged along.  When I last took her she was just a little over two years of age and it was a bit of a hindrance.  But now, she’s reached that age of being more helpful than a hindrance.  Perhaps “hindrance” is too harsh a word, but you get my drift.
• OtherDogGeeding, for the past four years, has had a fatty cyst on his stomach that has grown bigger and bigger.  Each year the vet assures me it’s nothing but fat and there’s no reason for concern, and each year she takes a biopsy of it and examines it.  Thankfully each year it turns out to be nothing.  I really like our vet.  There’s plenty of them nearby, but I don’t mind driving over half an hour for the quality of service we receive.
• My manager has his team updated our resumes once a year so if he needs a current version for a proposal bid on a new contract, they are ready to go.  While looking at mine, I noticed my MBA graduation date was off by two years, as if it took my five years to complete it instead of two-and-a-half.  This made me research all past copies of my resume to see how long I’ve made this mistake.  It looks like I goofed way back in 2009 and never caught it through cut and pasting and modifying new ones.
• I miss the T-Mobile girl and all her cute dresses. But if she every got into a fight with the AT&T girl, I have a feeling the AT&T girl would tear her apart.
