Bag of Randomness for Friday, July 31, 2015
- I’ve never been good at mower maintenance, but I was surprised at how sharp my mower blade was sharpened. Serious, I think it’s sharper than any knife we have in our kitchen.
- While putting the blade back on, there were two other parts that needed to go on first, but I couldn’t remember what order. I then remembered many websites that sell parts will show a diagram on how all of them fit together, and problem solved.
- I was watching a BBQ competition on television last night and chicken was the main feature. One cook had a unique approach of using the skin from the drumsticks and stuffing them with chicken breasts to maintain moisture, but I think that may have prevented if from getting some of that smoking flavor.
- Now that DirecTV is part of the AT&T family, I was planning on leaving them for Verizon. I already use Verizon for my Internet so I thought I would bundle, and I hold a grudge against AT&T; not to mention, I firmly believe they are directly responsible for the Holocaust. For basically the same channel lineup, I’d be saving $57 a month by switching. I called DirecTV and they sweet-talked me into staying and offered to cut my bill by $58 a month, but oddly, I never mentioned the $57 I would be saving by switching. Along with the savings, I didn’t have to agree to a contract so I can leave at anytime, and they threw in the NFL Sunday Ticket and Showtime.

- Frontburner has the states on our religious status – A Pew Research study of America’s religious landscape shows that of the country’s largest metropolitan areas by population, Dallas-Fort Worth has the largest percentage of people (78 percent) who identify as Christian and the fewest people who claim no religious affiliation (18 percent). Also we’ve got the most evangelical Christians (38 percent), plus the least Catholics (15 percent) anywhere other than Atlanta.
