  • Two of Lou Holtz’s Notre Dame football players were enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend.  I wonder what’s the most players a college coach has had enshrined in the Hall of Fame at one time.
  • @RickGosselinDMNThe two Notre Dame HOFers (Bettis & Brown) combined acceptance speeches ran 64:59. The 5 other HOFers combined for 45:09.
  • The Hall of Fame Speech Junior Seau’s Daughter Couldn’t Give – My heart just crumbled when I saw Seau’s mother uncontrollably weep once her son’s bust was revealed.
  • In Tim Brown’s speech, he stated the jacket was made by Haggar, and briefly talked about his relationship with the Haggar family in Dallas.  Per Haggar’s Wikipedia page, they provide jackets for several key things:
    • “Official Provider of the Gold Jacket to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinees since 1978”
    • “Official Clothing Partner and Provider of the Hockey Hall of Fame Jacket”
    • “Official Provider of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Jacket”
    • “Official Provider of the Alumni Jacket to the NFL Alumni Association”
    • “Official Provider of the Alumni and Ring of Honor Jackets of the Dallas Cowboys”
    • “Official Provider of the Alumni Jacket to the Miami Dolphins”
  • The son of Haggar’s founder is part of one of the funniest presidential phone recordings.  LBJ called him to order six pants, the best he’s ever worn, and talked about his bung hole and belches.  His lack of manners always cracked me up.
  • I forgot Brown finished his career in Tampa.
  • If there’s one thing I enjoyed about the ‘True Detective’ finale, it was the death scene in the dessert.

  • While reading this article about the owners of Pecan Lodge, I can’t help but think they are just really good, salt of the Earth kinda people, especially with this answer:
    • With all of that attention and hard work that you’re putting into this barbecue, is it a little infuriating — even the tiniest bit — that Dallas is still really not part of this national conversation about Texas barbecue. It’s all about Franklin’s (in Austin), all the time.Diane: No, not at all. Aaron has earned that spot. He’s the real deal. He and Stacy are really good, really hardworking people. That’s not hard for us. Who cares? It’s a win for Texas. We have good barbecue in Austin, in Dallas, in some little small town. It doesn’t matter. It’s a win for the state over all.I think a lesser person might be bitter about that, or jealous, or whatever.

Justin: The way that I look at it is that this is a really hard business to be in. If we’re successful and someone else is successful, good for them. I’m happy for them. The last thing you want is for someone to go into this business and fail. It’s devastating. We barely made it through the first year, and I don’t know that you could call it making it in the second year, but it did start to turn for us then. I don’t want to see anyone go down.
