  • Ten years ago tomorrow marks the first post I made on this blog.  It was nothing but a test post, and here we are.  I’ve now spent a little more than a quarter of my life running this thing.

  • Before last night’s Cowboys preseason game, there was a Jason Witten special.  His grandfather stated that when he dropped to the third round of the NFL draft, he was so made the tore the door off the hinges.  That’s surprising, he seems the type to have been mild mannered all his life.  I always loved how he continued his rookie season after breaking a jaw.  Here’s a great pick of Witten with a very swollen jaw.

At first, I thought he was trying to be Walter White

Meet Okilly Dokilly – the world’s first (and presumably last) Ned Flanders themed metal band.

Formed last month, the Phoenix-based group were unearthed by Adelaide street press Rip It Up and pretty much embody everything you could possibly want from a band dedicated to all things Flanderino. They dress like Ned. They talk like Ned. And they are all called – you guessed it – Ned.

Church opens gun range ministry ‘in the name of Jesus Christ’‏

JEMISON, Ala. (WIAT) – What started out as an overgrown gully behind the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church has turned into a ministry, complete with guns, bullets and the Bible.

Pastor Phillip Guin says the gully, once full of kudzu, snakes and other vermin, had been there since before he arrived at the church.

When brainstorming about what to do with the area, the idea of a gun range came up.

“We had quite a number of church members, some elderly ladies, for example, and some not so elderly women that had purchased guns, but didn’t know how to use them,” Guin said.

Originally, the range was used to teach firearm safety. But about a year ago, that changed. The thought of a ministry started becoming more and more clear.

The safety training morphed into the Rocky Mount Hunt and Gun Club as a way to try and bring more members to the church.

“This is an opportunity for us to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ in a setting that is completely unique. Even odd by some people’s standards. But who’s to say that church can’t happen right here,” Guin said, pointing at the red clay dirt of the range.

Wedge-Tailed Eagle takes down Drone in Australia

**Eagle was fine – she was massive, and used talon’s to ‘punch’ the drone out of the sky. Hung around overhead so i got a really good look. Eagle’s health was my main concern also**

This is the last thing a small bird sees when a Wedge-Tailed Eagle decides that you are dinner…

Do not fly drones near birds of prey, they clearly attack seeing you as a threat or the right sized dinner. This will cost you money and potentially harm to the bird. This one was fine.. the drone needed some attention before it could fly again.

If you see a bird of prey while flying. Land. I have added this to my operating procedure.
