Bag of Randomness for Tuesday, September, 29, 2015
- I had dinner with one of my oldest friends yesterday and he dispelled some unexpected wisdom my way while watching the Rangers game. We were talking about my turning 40 and how on these milestone birthdays, people want to just look at the big wins in life. He went on to explain that big wins are okay, and they are noticeable and great, but you have to take into consideration all the small victories in life because they add up, and sometimes you may not even remember them or even know a moment was a victory. I took from it, it’s okay if I don’t have the corner office or job title, but there are a lot of things I have done in life that I should be proud of, even if it’s keeping this blog up and running, and of course all the time I spend doing stuff for the family.
- My friend also had many kind words to say about this blog and how it means more to people than I think.
- BoyGeeding was upset at DaughterGeeding and decided to bite her on her back, and it left a mark. I leave the house to have dinner with a friend one time and the kids start biting each other, at least our pets’ heads aren’t falling off.
- I was really happy and proud of, LiberallyLean, for hiking up Guadalupe Peak. I was also glad he shared how tough it was. Since I don’t do half-marathons or run in events like him, I had nothing to compare my experience with. I did find it strange to read the comments on his post, I was curious as to what he readers would say about this great little accomplishment but found someone attacking me for something I posted earlier in the day. I should have known better.
- Trevor Noah started his reign as the new host of ‘The Daily Show’. He’s no Jon Stewart, but he’ll be alright.
- The winner of the Berlin Marathon got his personal best time despite wearing a pair of prototype Nike shoes that caused the insoles come out around the ten-mile mark.

- I don’t often say that a woman is a “10”, but the CBS11 traffic reporter certainly is almost worthy, definitely a strong to very strong “9.25”. WifeGeeding thinks she’s a “10”. She really got my attention when they had her do a Six Flags Fright Fest segment in costume.

Bag of Randomness for Monday, September 28, 2015
- This week started off a bit magical, and if all goes to plan, it should end that way as well. I’ve mentioned DaughterGeeding has been interested in sunrises as of late, but unable to actually witness one because it happens during our commute to her school. Well, on Sunday, I woke up early (you have no idea how much I value sleeping in) just to watch the sunrise with her. There’s not a good place to view one in our yard or neighborhood, so got the ladder and we both climbed on top of the roof to witness her first sunrise. It was a great father-daughter moment, one that I will remember for the rest of my life, and one I hope she can remember until at least lunch time.
- In the evening, I got to enjoy the ‘Super Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse’ with WifeGeeding.
- Bob Sturm set his DVR to four hours to record the TCU/Tech game, and that still wasn’t enough time.
- If there’s a ranked team going into Lubbock, it’s always worth a watch. TCU is using duct tape and fishing lure to keep their injured plagued defense together, Tech played their hearts out, and it was one entertaining spectacle, almost made legendary if that last play lateral extravaganza would have gone ten more yards.
- The Longhorns seem to have a bunch of moral victories to build on, but their kicker and punter need to up their game.
- GIF – Donald Trump debating himself – I laughed at first, but the longer it kept going, the funnier I thought it got.

- The ’60 Minutes’ piece on Trump last night was pretty underwhelming.
- There’s a new Peanuts movie coming out, and it looks better than one might think. Their website gives you a chance to turn yourself into a Peanuts character. This person made versions of his favorite television shows. Personally, I liked the x-Files version.
