  • Football thoughts:
    • That poor Tom Brady just can’t catch a break in life.
    • If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, you can always count on a Wade Phillips defense to come through for you. (I wish there was a sarcastic font.)
    • Belichick showed some class seeking out Denver’s head coach and talking to Peyton Manning for a good amount of time. I didn’t think it was possible, good for him.
    • Manning graduated high school the same year as me, and since he’s still playing it gives me a small bit of hope that I’m still young.
    • I have a lot of respect for the Patriots, but I don’t want to hear any of their fans or anyone from Boston complaining after all the championships they’ve experienced (35!), a lot recently (nine 21st century championships)- Patriots 4, Red Sox 8, Celtics 17, Bruins 6.
    • Gary Kubiak & Ron Rivera both replaced Jon Fox as head coach and now they are both going to the Super Bowl.
    • The Panthers started to play “Sweet Caroline” towards the end of the game, which I’m sure upset many Red Sox fans. It is a sweet bit.
    • I’m so happy for former Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware. He played his heart out in that game and was a beast. I just wish he could have gone to a Super Bowl with Dallas.
    • I really wish I could have fast-forwarded through that NFC Championship to get to the ‘X-Files’.
    • I say it every year, but I really miss how the old conference championship trophies used to look, the new ones look cheap. And here’s what the original ones used to look like.
  • Music news – Old music is outselling new music for the first time in history
  • I recently watched the Night At The Museum movies with the kids, and I say this with the utmost conviction – No woman in the history of cinema has worn a pair of pants better than Amy Adams.
  • Astronaut Scott Kelly is spending a year on the International Space Station and participated in a Reddit Ask Me Anything on Saturday.  When asked what he thought was something unusual about being in space for so long that many wouldn’t think about, he provided this interesting answer – The calluses on your feet in space will eventually fall off. So, the bottoms of your feet become very soft like newborn baby feet. But the top of my feet develop rough alligator skin because I use the top of my feet to get around here on space station when using foot rails.
  • The picture at the top of this post is from Scott Kelly’s Instagram account. That bright shiny thing isn’t the sun, it’s the moon.
  • A dog in Alabama ran a half-marathon (without the knowledge of her owner) and finished sixth.  The dog’s unofficial time was 1:32:56 and received a medal.
  • President Obama was on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ and stated there are some things he felt strongly about as a candidate that he now views differently after seeing from the Oval Office. I bet that’s absolutely true for every president. While a candidate’s stance on an issue is important, it’s not the sole factor I use to vote for a candidate. I also have to weigh their ability to evaluate and make a decision, even if it’s perceived as going against their stance. For instance, Bush 43 stated he hated the $700 billion bailout of the financial services industry he signed because it went against his political philosophy of government spending and intervention, but understood it needed to be done. So far, I’m undecided on a candidate.
  • I caught part of a radio segment in which a speech expert (they used some other fancy title) analyzed the presidential candidates speech patterns. I only caught the Trump and Cruz analysis. When Trump emphasizes a point, he’ll repeat it several times in succession a few different ways. When Cruz emphasizes a point, he likes to interject a lot of pauses which engages the listener and allows the mind to process. Overall, Trump comes across more colloquial and Cruz more esoteric.
  • Favorite SNL line by the fake Trump, “She’s two Corinthians short of a Bible.”
  • Second favorite SNL line by the fake Palin, “I belong in a cabinet because I’ve got a lot of spice and I’ve got a great rack.”
  • Sometimes DogGeedingII is a distraction when blogging.
  • DaughterGeeding recently did an assignment over the five sense, I may need to talk to her about touch.

    The man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has to tell North Yorkshire police about any sexual activity at 24 least hours before it happens or will face up to five years in jail.

  • If I read this article correctly, Kermit ISD was having trouble finding math and science teachers so they recruited some from India.

  • Two Australian men witness a robbery and do their best to stop the robber getting away in his car. You can watch the encounter here and read about it here, but my favorite line is, “I chased them but because I’m fat they got away.”

  • ‘X-Files’ thoughts with a spoiler:
    • I feared for the worst and hoped for the best, I got neither and I’m okay with that. Critics haven’t been nice with what they saw, which was only the first episode. I just tried to keep an open mind and so far I’ve enjoyed this nice trip down memory lane. I’ll admit a few things seemed forced, the dialog and exchanges are a bit forced, and a few Mulder and Scully scenes looked like they were about to break out in laughter thinking they were in som parody show.
    • I’m not happy seeing CSM back again, apparently he survived that missile which was shot into the cave he was hiding in. Heck, when Mulder was lead away to that hangar with the spacecraft, I thought we were about to see the Lone Gunmen again, but no. Maybe if we all get lucky Queequeg will come back.
  • The last part of today’s blog was written after I took an Ambien, there’s no telling if any think is going to flow along or make sense. But what’s neat right now is my screen seem to be like a curtain gently moving in the wind, and only when it slows down, I can see what I’m typing.

In 1988, high school senior Ted Cruz reflected on his life’s ambitions while attending Second Baptist School in Houston, TX. Now, he is a Republican Senator running for the office of the President of the United States of America.
