Roughly 2 years ago Jose of Columbus, Wisconsin fell on hard times. He was going through a divorce, lost his house, became homeless and had no choice but to live in his vehicle. Jose got Chaos as a puppy and according to Jose, “Chaos helped me through so much in my life, I took him everywhere with me!” A friend of a friend took Chaos and three months later Jose was back on his feet. Sadly, the friend refused to give the dog back, leaving Jose heartbroken. “I didn’t think I would ever see my dog again,” said Jose.

This past Wednesday, a Winnebago County Services staff member was at home in South Beloit and found a dog in her driveway. An Animal Services Officer came out and brought the dog back to the shelter. The dog was wearing a collar with a 2014 National Identification Number.

On Thursday, April 28, Jose was going through his emails and he had received a microchip renewal notice. It was time to update his microchip information for Chaos. Jose became upset and disheartened. He began to reminisce on his lost friend wondering what happened to him. He began to scroll through old photos of Chaos. Suddenly, the phone rang!

Thursday afternoon, a shelter staff member called the phone number that was associated with the ID number. Thankfully, Jose had the same contact information. The staff member informed Jose that his dog is at Winnebago County Animal Services. Jose excitedly said, “Choas?!” and he began to cry! “I was speechless and I couldn’t stop smiling. I just couldn’t believe it.”

“I couldn’t get to the shelter fast enough,” said Jose. “I couldn’t wait for it to open so I could see Chaos! I left at 8 am today and had an hour and a half drive, so I was very anxious!”

“I haven’t been happier! This has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders and has made my entire week! Thank you so much to all of your staff for all you do. I will always appreciate you!”

Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, May 11, 2016

  • Remember that slab leak I had repaired last week? WifeGeeding woke me up in the wee small hours of the morning Tuesday to inform me that it has returned. I called our plumber first thing in the morning and he couldn’t make it out because he was a man down due to illness and was already overbooked. I’d say I’m pretty understanding and easy to deal with, but I stressed that this was work he performed just a few days ago which has failed, and to perform that work, he had me wait two days after confirming it was a slab leak to start on the job. I’ve been with the plumber for over a decade and like that it’s a family owned business and not huge and corporate, and I’m a pretty loyal guy, but I do have my limits. Very apologetically he stated he still can’t make it out to GeedingManor until the next morning, but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to be a case of identifying the problem and then having me wait for the job to start for another day or two.
  • Now that we have a small amount of water damage that’s mainly in WifeGeeding’s closest, which is actually in the master bath, I’m considering having the closet and shower remodeled. Anyone have a recommendation for a person or company that can do such a thing? If so, please leave a comment or email me – kgeeding at hotmail dot com.
  • Despite the Rangers game going to twelve innings and losing, we had a magical night at the Ballpark. The weather was perfect and every now and then we could feel a nice brisk breeze. It was also great catching up with my cousin who I haven’t spoken to in forever and meeting his fiance.
  • While at the game, I noticed the front row seats behind the net along the first base line had a metal shelf or table, and in front of one seat was a television below the table, almost at foot level. It was such an odd place for a single television I couldn’t figure out why it was there, and then it hit me – that’s where former President George W. Bush and his wife normally sit, and I’m sure it was installed for him (and other VIPs) to use. You can see the television in this picture. Actually, you can see two of them, but I only noticed one was on.
  • In case you were wondering, I didn’t see the former president at the game, he was probably at the Beyonce concert across the street. Surprisingly, traffic wasn’t bad at all for the game and concert.

  • ‘Person of Interest’ they had a red-headed female guest star that I’ve seen somewhere before but just couldn’t figure it out. Her name is Paige Patterson and when I searched for her name on Google, I didn’t expect the top results to reference the president of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. It turns out they share the same name. So here I was looking up an attractive red-head and found and old white male preacher, it’s like God was trolling me.
  • I’m watching ‘Marvel’s  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ last night and was a bit frustrated they gave away certain details that happened in Captain American: Civil War which opened in theaters last weekend. Heck, it all happened in the opening scene. On one hand, it’s cool how they connect the show with the movie, but on the other hand, not everyone has had the chance to watch the movie yet, it hasn’t even been out a week.
