Statistically Speaking

I’ve been using Google Analytics for about a week now, and I am very impressed. If you want to track stats on your website or blog, I certainly recommend using it. The data is easy to find yet very robust. Here are some findings about www.bagofnothing.com.

I was curious to know where all my readers live, and Google Analytics provided me with this stat on a world level:

And here is the data in a pie chart:

Yes, I’m quite surprised to know that the bag is read in 8 different countries and 4 continents.
Now I was curious to know about visitors in the U.S. only:

Whoa, over ten states. Kinda cool. But how many just in Texas, home state of www.bagofnothing.com.

That stat made me laugh because Lewisville (where I live) isn’t in the mix.
Then there are some other stats you can find out as well, such as how long a person stays on www.bagofnothing.com or new and returning visitors.

So feel free to link to this site and tell your friends about it. I’m interested to see where it all goes from here.

A very interesting, and heart warming story.

Last allied witness of WWI Christmas truce dies.

“All I’d heard for two months in the trenches was the hissing, cracking and whining of bullets in flight, machinegun fire and distant German voices. But there was a dead silence that morning across the land as far as you could see.

“We shouted ‘Merry Christmas’ even though nobody felt merry. The silence ended early in the afternoon and the killing started again.”

Troops in the trenches swapped cigarettes, uniform buttons and addresses and even played football in one of the most extraordinary episodes of the war.
