Last football picture of me, I promise. And to think I only suited up for one varsity game and didn’t even get any time on the field.
I took WifeGeeding and BoyGeeding to the Schlotzsky’s in Coppell yesterday. About five or six cops walked in for lunch right after us. One of them made BoyGeeding’s day when he walked over and gave him a sticker that looked like a police badge. It’s the little things, yo.
I’ve really been enjoying NBC’s ‘Better Late Than Never’. There’s just something about following these cultural icons around and hearing them talk about accomplishments and lessons learned, and they just seem fun to be around. But the moments I probably cherish the most is when Henry Winkler gives us a little bit of the Fonz.
I caught the NFL Network’s ‘The Timeline’ on Peyton Manning preparing for the 2013 season. The man may have been born with a lot of quarterback genes and financial resources, but he didn’t rest on his laurels and worked hard at improving in all aspects of the game. I knew the guy was dedicated to his craft, but had no idea just how dedicated, and how ticked he got when a coach didn’t take time to correct him on something.
Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ got renewed for a second season, EW.com has an interview with the show’s creators about what to expect.
I think a good Halloween idea for a father and son is a Super Mario and Little Mario costume. You know, Small Mario is when you start the game, Super Mario is after you consume the mushroom. You can even throw in an uncle or grandfather for Fire Mario. Well, I guess an uncle would be more appropriate for Luigi.
According to officer Brock Johnson with the Rising Star Police Department, Dustin Abrams beat Larry Laine Smith Friday night in the 100 block of S. Bruce Street after he learned of allegations that Smith sexually assaulted his child.
If Rick Perry doesn’t do a dance routine that involves six shooters on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, I’m going to be disappointed. One thing is for sure, his hair will be perfect.
I bet a consultant told Perry to be on the show reasoning the current party nominee has reality show experience.
Whenever something bad happens and there’s an investigation, I often don’t understand why it takes so long to complete an investigation and issue discipline, especially if it’s obvious. For instance, as of yesterday, Baylor still hasn’t issued any discipline after investigating their starting wide receiver for violently abusing his dog. There’s video evidence of the incident which was released back on August 18, there’s no doubt what happened, and he admitted to it, but university officials’ decision on how to discipline the football player is still on-going. However, their head coach did state even if no decision is made by university officials, the player won’t play. But the school did issue this statement last week, “The university takes this matter seriously. The behavior falls short of the character expectations we have for our students. This student has been punished by the legal system and understands he faces further disciplinary action from the athletics department and as a result of the investigation and review of the university’s student disciplinary process.”
“In the past, there have been a selected number of [Travelers Rest] students who either wore sombreros or wore ponchos to games and that was discouraged because it was seen as derogatory to Hispanic students,” Beth Brotherton, assistant communications director for the school district, told BuzzFeed News.
If this story doesn’t remind you of the “That’s not a knife, this is a knife” line from Crocodile Dundee, I don’t know what will. A man attempted to rob a store with a machete, but the store owner pulled this out:
The Atlantic – Fixing America’s Broken School Calendar – We asked education experts how much time they think kids should spend in class. Here’s what they had to say.
Last year for my birthday I decided to climb a mountain. Yesterday for my birthday, I decided to make major progress on my latest DIY project, a sliding barn door for the master bath. I didn’t document a lot of the project, which I’m not a little bummed about, but I’m probably about 94% complete with the project. The best part, I didn’t even spend $100.
The biggest challenging was finding a steel flat bar at least 3/16 of an inch thick. Home Depot and Lowe’s carry flat bars, but none long enough. I needed my flat bar to be 88-inches. I called a metal supply shop and they cut and sold me one for $17.00, which was much cheaper than I would have guessed.
The rollers or nothing but v-idler pulleys. The local Northern Tool sold them for $18 a piece, but if you are patient, you can get them off eBay for about ten bucks a piece.
The door is just a wood siding panel I got at Lowes for $22.00. The trim cost about the same.
The rest was just some nuts and bolts and metallic spray paint.
The hardest part was drilling holes through the steel flat bar. Measure thrice, drill once. But drilling through metal will take you a while. The second hardest part was trusting my stud finder and transferring measurements.
