DALLAS – A Texas-based ministry group plans to flood entertainment districts in Dallas and Fort Worth on Saturday with 500 street preachers trying to spread their faith, an event the group’s president calls a “city invasion.”

A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

America’s strength is found in the spirit and character of our people. During National Character Counts Week, we renew our commitment to instilling values in our young people and to encouraging all Americans to remember the importance of good character.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim October 15 through October 21, 2006, as National Character Counts Week. I call upon public officials, educators, librarians, parents, students, and all Americans to observe this week with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.

My favorite BagOfNothing reader in Asia recently attended the first U2charist in Hong Kong at St John’s Cathedral.

He was nice enough to scan the program and send it to me.  I put all the images in a Microsoft Word document you can download here.  I suggest changing the view option in Word to 150% in order to easily read the document.  The Introduction is very worth the read.

So what’s a U2charist?

A regular Anglican Eucharist (or Holy Communion) with U2 songs instead of hymns.

Curious, I performed a Google search for a similar event in Dallas, and it turns out I just missed it!  Urghhhhh!
