Women Pastors: Not the ‘Path to Blessing’

grudem2.jpegThis guy even wrote a book about it.

A Bible scholar says women who preach to men are disobeying the word of God.

Wayne Grudem is Research Professor of Bible and Theology at Phoenix Seminary and the former president of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. A graduate of Harvard, Westminster Theological Seminary, and the University of Cambridge, Grudem strongly supports traditional roles for men and women within the church. He spoke with Beliefnet editor Laura Sheahen about his book Countering the Claims of Evangelical Feminism, which lists church activities that should be available to men only or to both men and women.

Tough Duck

images.jpegTALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Neither gunfire nor two days in a refrigerator could slay this duck.

When the wife of the hunter who shot it opened the refrigerator door, the duck lifted its head, giving her a scare.

The man’s wife “was going to check on the refrigerator because it hadn’t been working right and when she opened the door, it looked up at her,” said Laina Whipple, a receptionist at Killearn Animal Hospital. “She freaked out and told the daughter to take it to the hospital right then and there.”

The Poor Kid Fell For It – The Worst Part . . . It’s Publicised

story.jpegLike a scene from the movie “A Christmas Story,” police had to free a boy who got his tongue stuck to a metal stop sign, Lt. William H. Graham said Wednesday.

Whether anyone uttered the infamous “triple-dog dare” that goaded the movie’s Flick into sticking his tongue to a pole is unclear, but police said the boy was surrounded by a group of kids when his tongue froze to the sign in 9-degree weather. The group said the boy was “talking smart,” Graham said.

Officer Daniel Baumann was the first to arrive at Carroll and Barstow streets at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday, but he had to wait for Officer Raymond Fuerstenberg to show up a short time later with a bottle of water. Baumann poured the water on the boy’s tongue and on the sign and then the boy pulled his tongue away. “He lost some skin from his tongue on the stop sign,” Graham said.
