A staple of melodrama from the beginning of film, many people have found the rescue of a woman to be a strong fantasy. The imagery lives from the early serials of the Perils of Pauline, through the cliffhangers of the 40’s and 50’s, through the euro-horror films of the 60’s and 70’s, and on into the modern era of action films.
