Youth Pastor Faked His Own Death Because of Child Sex Charges?

 former youth pastor accused of sexually assaulting a child in Texas was tracked down living here Tuesday, six months after he allegedly faked his own death.Kevin Othell Laferney, 40, is wanted in Upshur County, Texas, on four counts each of aggravated sexual assault of a child and bail jumping.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, he faked his death in February and disappeared before he was scheduled to appear in court.

Great Falls police and U.S. Marshals deputies arrested Laferney without incident at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when authorities knocked on the door of his apartment.

“We got lucky and he answered,” said Dana Rossmiller, a supervisory deputy U.S. Marshal based in Great Falls.

Laferney had been working as a painter and living in an apartment complex near a city park, Rossmiller said.

Rangers win, 30-3

In the first game of what was supposed to be just a harmless doubleheader between two teams going nowhere, the Rangers scored and scored and scored some more. When their bats finally stopped smoking, they had branded the Orioles with a 30-3 loss.

It was the first time since 1900, considered the beginning of the “modern era” that a team had reached 30 runs. It’s also the largest margin of victory in the modern era, as well.

Photos of bare-chested Putin create stir

But few could have predicted the squall of gossip and speculation that erupted after the president stripped off his shirt for the cameras while vacationing in the Siberian mountains last week.

The resulting images, prominently enshrined on the presidential Web site, inspired admiration, criticism and some racing pulses among his admirers.

The Russian media still can’t get enough.

One radio talk show host speculated the photos were meant to enhance Putin’s personal appeal to voters — a strong signal that he doesn’t plan to relinquish power.

Komsomolskaya Pravda reported that women who visited its Web site posted comments on Putin’s “vigorous torso” and said they “were screaming with delight and showering (him) with compliments.”

Russian gay chat rooms and blogs were particularly intrigued by the photos: Some claimed that Putin, by stripping to his waist, was somehow pleading for more tolerance of homosexuality in Russia — where gays and lesbians are for the most part forced to remain closeted.

One satirical photo circulating on the Internet jokingly compared Putin’s mountain adventure with Prince Albert II of Monaco to the movie “Brokeback Mountain,” a love story about two cowboys who conceal a homosexual affair.
