They’re an odd couple in every sense but a monkey and a pigeon have become inseparable at an animal sanctuary in China.

The 12-week-old macaque – who was abandoned by his mother – was close to death when it was rescued on Neilingding Island, in Goangdong Province.

After being taken to an animal hospital his health began to improve but he seemed spiritless – until he developed a friendship with a white pigeon.

The blossoming relationship helped to revive the macaque who has developed a new lease of life, say staff at the sanctuary.

Now the unlikely duo are never far from each other’s side, but they aren’t the only ones to strike up an unusual friendship.

WifeGeeding one-upped me by visiting the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock.

No blogging this Monday . . . I just got back from Boston and I start my new job tomorrow so I’m pressed for time.  Sorry to dissappoint.

A few more thoughts:

• Boston is a pretty cool town, it was much better than I expected.  I guess any city with a major rail system helps.  There’s nothing like getting from one end of town to another in about 15 minutes.
• The outside of the TD Ameritrade Garden looks pretty dull and ugly.
• We ate a sports bar Sports Illustrated ranked the #1 sports bar in all of America.  It was called Fours.  The food was OK, but the atmosphere was something else.
• I may have mentioned in an earlier post that one of my friends rode the elevator with Adrian Grenier (Vincent Chase of Entourage).  Well, after we got back from Fenway we found out that our hotel was hosting the Boston Film Festival tribute dinner.  The plethora of limos, spotlights, and media kinda gave it away.  It turns out some big names were there, such as George Clooney.  The only other for sure celebrity we saw was Steve Martin when we were eating at Legal Seafood the next day.  He was wearing a moustache and a hat and looked pretty homely.  I tried to snap an inconspicuous picture of him with my camera phone, but some of our entourage had a conniption and I’m left dissappointing my readers.  I’ll do better next time.
• I have to go back to Boston in two weeks for two straight weeks of new job stuff.  I just realized that this trip will be during the Red River Shootout Rivalry where Texas and Oklahoma play in Dallas at the Texas State Fair.  The way Texas is playing, Oklahoma just has to be salivating at the chance to pounce UT this year.  It may just be better for me not to be in Dallas during that game.
• I hate seafood, but my friends seemed to like everything they ate.  Thank goodness there was chicken and burgers on the menus.
• I still can’t get over the atmosphere of Fenway Park.  One pleasant surprise was the middle of the 8th inning where “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond is played.  The entire crowd gets into this song singing and dancing.  I video-taped this experience, but the audio quality is horrible.  So here is a YouTube video that should give you an idea what I’m talking about.  The best parts are around the 40 second mark and the last 30 or so seconds, where everyone knows the words.  Too bad Rangers fans can’t get this excited. Also, that song is totally stuck in my head.
