A Charlie Brown Christmas

cbctreeafd.jpgA few thoughts about this Christmas special I’m always drawn to:

  • I’m still adjusting to all Peanuts cartoons being shown on ABC, I’m use to seeing them on CBS all of my life.
  • I totally love the music.
  • I blame this cartoon for the sorrow that I bestow on inanimate objects.  I know that a tree is a living organism and all, but I guess I’m referring to things that can’t communicate.  Example:  If I’m at the grocery store buying a can of green beans and I see one can that is slightly damaged, I’ll end up buying that damaged can because I want it to feel happy – kind of like Charlie Brown did with that Christmas tree.  Silly I know, but that’s just me.

A computer inside a piano

What you see pictured is a beautiful 1904 Chickering Upright Grand Piano, refinished to its original splendor. To make it a set, a matching refurbished antique Piano Stool is also included. Wrapped in magnificent mahogany, the piano’s warm tones and unique features draws one to it. It boasts superior craftsmanship, as evident in its intricate carved details, beautifully curved keyboard cover and exquisite legs. It has a charming history, as many antique pianos do. But this one also has a secret.

The secret this piano holds is that it is not a piano at all. There is a semi-hidden panel, and when slid down, it is held in place. To raise the panel, simply press it and it will rise automatically. Words cannot describe what it is like to watch the panel rise on its own, as if by an invisible hand.

So they’ll be using plastic snow . . .

When Benjamin Braddock learned that plastics are the future, he probably wasn’t thinking snow. But Snowflex, a polymer-based snow substitute, is being used to cover a ski resort…in Texas. Bearfire Resorts believes their Texan slopes will be ready to go by ’09, so oil moguls and Snowflex moguls can have a little get-together. Just don’t eat the Snowcones.
