A WifeGeeding Bag of Randomness

  • Keith had 2 outings this weekend.  The first one was to IHOP.  It was pretty hard on him because we took LeafGeeding which was not as comfortable as our SUV.  The second one was to Dairy Queen.  That time we took the SUV, but was nearly in a wreck due to a red light.  I was trying to be so careful with driving slow that as the light turned yellow I didn’t want to speed up to go through the light and didn’t slam on the brakes hard enough because I didn’t want to hurt Keith so I stopped pretty far over the line.  The other drivers were thankfully paying attention and showed grace as I backed up out of the intersection.
  • The kids were so excited to show me their report card that they pulled it out of their backpack as soon as I picked them up from school on Friday.
  • DaughterGeeding and I had to do some major cleaning in her room this weekend.  Thankful that she was willing to give some things away and throw things away.
  • BoyGeeding is filled with such joy.  He can be so goofy with his mannerisms that he just makes me smile.  And he still wants to cuddle with me.  I know that won’t last so I will take it every chance I get.
  • Remember elementary school talent shows?  When I was in first grade, two other friends and I did a twirling routine, but it was really just standing up on stage making up something as we went along.  I think I hit one girl in the chin and didn’t realize it until we were finished.  DaughterGeeding and BoyGeeding are thinking about being in their  upcoming school talent show.  What is their talent?  Why singing a U2 song of course!
  • I lead chapel at the preschool where I work.  Last week a 3 year old boy asked what was God’s phone number.  No need for a phone number-you can talk to Him anytime and anywhere.

A WifeGeeding Bag of Randomness

  • Overall, Keith has been recovering well, but yesterday was a bit of a setback.
  • He’s a bit frustrated how he feels loopy and out of focus all the time due to the painkillers. He’d like to stimulate his mind or get engaged in a book or a Netflix series, but he’ll quickly lose track of what’s going on or will fall asleep.
  • He’s more comfortable laying on his side than his back.
  • He now refers to his walker as Herschel and I’ll catch him having conversations with him, most peaceful. He refers to his back brace as a corset and keeps teasing me about him getting a set of Boudoir photos with it as a gift for Valentine’s day.
  • I love my man and all, but he annoyingly will leave cabinet doors open and not put the toilet seat down.  GRRR!
  • It’s a bit sad to hear about the Toys/Babies r Us store closings. When pregnant with DaughterGeeding, the employees were a wealth of information on products and answering questions. It was much better speaking to them and comparing products in person that relying on some product page or online review.
  • One way being married to Keith has changed me is to look at things from different perspectives.
  • On the way to school in the mornings, DaughterGeeding provides live weather reports and BoyGeeding will provide the traffic.
  • I’m thinking about dying my hair all grey, Keith is encouraging me.
  • The Texas town of Italy has been in the news. About half the reporters will correctly pronounce it correctly – Italy (/ˈɪtli/ IT-lee, unlike the country Italy).
  • A few of my coworkers have provided meals for us this week which has been very helpful.
  • Keith gave me an Instant Pot for Christmas.  To be honest, I wasn’t too crazy about the gift when I opened it.  I thought, “Great.  Now I have to cook.”  Now, I really like it and am enjoying trying new things.
  • Keith helps out with household chores like laundry and cleaning our bathroom.
  • I highly recommend watching Black Mirror on Netflix.
  • I graduated with 135 in my class.  My nephew who attends the same high school has 294 in his class.
  • Having lost both of his parents, Keith knows how important it is for me to spend with my family.
  • The Amazing Race os one of my favorite TV shows.

  • Keith is looking for names for his back brace and walker.  He’s usually pretty clever with coming up with ideas, but I think the drugs are affecting his brain. Right now he calls his back brace his corset.
  • He thinks he is never going to poop again.  In case you weren’t aware, a side effect of pain medication is constipation.
  • I left Keith alone for about an hour and he dropped the remote.  Thank goodness for the DirecTV app on his phone that allowed him to change the channel.
  • I changed his bandage on his back tonight.  It was the first time either one of us saw the stitches.  Care to know how many?  Click here to count.
  • Despite being off of his baby Aspirin and supplements for 2 weeks before surgery the surgery team noticed how thin his blood was when they cut him open.
  • According to Keith’s FitBit this is how many steps he’s taken since surgery.
    • Saturday:  346
    • Sunday:  368
    • Monday:  495
    • Tuesday:  694
  • Keith wanted the kids out of the house this afternoon because he was afraid they were going to bump into him.  So we went on a bike ride.
  • Keith wrote a note for the kids and put it in their lunchbox on Friday (day of the surgery).  DaughterGeeding found hers today.
  • He received the Flu shot and Pneumonia shot the day he was discharged.
  • I should have noted that Keith makes his Rice Krispie Treats with peanut butter and they are delicious!
  • I love Big Red (the drink), but only drink it about 3 times a year from various restaurants.
  • Eating cereal out of a cup is much more efficient than a bowl.  When you are finished eating the cereal, you have the cup to drink the remaining milk.
  • Keith thinks the Olympics will only be broadcast on Amazon or Netflix.

Bag of Randomness

  • Sorry I didn’t update the blog earlier.  I was a little tired last night.  Wonder why???
  • The patient moved into the living room which boosted his spirit a bit.
  • Nights are long for him.  It’s hard for him to get comfortable.
  • Before going to bed Keith took an Ambien.  When I woke up at 1:00 to give him his pain medicine I noticed there were homemade Rice Krispie Treats in our kitchen.  I didn’t make them.
  • Lots of talking in his sleep last night.  Words and phrases that I remember are “Cuba”, “Sorry about that guys…fickle women”, “Jane Fonda”, “Let’s go with this wood because it has been treated.”
  • DaughterGeeding wants cardboard boxes and gift cards to Lowe’s for her birthday.
  • BoyGeeding received a fishing pole from a neighbor friend yesterday.  Looks like we will be going fishing this spring and summer.
