Here’s an interesting photo I received in an email [Thanks, Carl!], you can see a larger version here.

I find it interesting that not only everyone except for the person circled in this University of Missouri classroom has a laptop, but every laptop is a Mac.  I can only imagine how hard it must be for a student to pay attention to a lecture when the World Wide Web is available to his or her fingertips.

Laptops aren’t often used in the college courses that I teach, but when I do see them open, the class size and room is small enough for me to walk around.

The man who was Stalin’s body double finally tells his story

The narrow, baggy eyes and droopy moustache are unmistakable – features that terrified half the world, condemned millions to a cruel death and which even today are an instant symbol of monstrous despotism.

Yet the man who so clearly has Joseph Stalin’s face upon his shoulders is not Stalin at all.

Despite the careful curve of the brows and the immaculate hair, these pictures show someone else entirely, someone who has never been supreme leader of the Soviet Republic.

This, as the Russian public has been learning, is Felix Dadaev, a dancer and juggler who, amid the desperate defence against Hitler’s invading armies, was ordered to the Kremlin to work as Stalin’s body double.

For more than half a century, Dadaev remained silent, fearing a death sentence should he dare to open his mouth.

But at the age of 88, and with the apparent approval of the Putin regime, he has finally come forward to tell a quite remarkable story.

Ten ways to make church guests feel unwelcome

1. Make parking for first-time guests inconvenient.
2. Get grouchy greeters.
3. Forgo a Welcome Center.
4. Treat guests like a doctor’s office treats new patients.
5. Don’t escort guests to their classrooms.
6. Put questions in parents’ minds about the safety and security of their children.
7. Make finding a seat really hard.
8. Have guests stand up while everyone else sits, or sit while everyone else stands.
9. Randomly call on people to read or pray.
10. Don’t wear name tags.
