Bag of Randomness for Thursday, May, 24, 2018

  • There’s an old adage about the true test of a man is how he responds to adversity. I’ve been thinking about that a lot as I’ve been going through a unique adverse situation and wondering how I’m measuring up. Maybe one day I’ll be brave or stupid enough to share it, but in doing so, a bridge will be burned in the process, which might be best.
  • I think placing “old” in front of “adage” is redundant but it just sounds better, so sometimes redundancy triumphs.
  • BoyGeeding’s kindergarten teacher had to leave school yesterday because of kidney stones and cyst on her kidney which burst.
  • I get easily annoyed by people who don’t walk to the right, it makes me wonder how bad their driving habits must be.
  • I’m finding that I share something in common with a lot of my guy friends in the business world. We all work hard, take pride in what we do, and feel knowledgeable about what we’re doing, but we suffer from such self-confidence that we fear someone is eventually going to call us out and “fix the glitch”.
  • I wish people wouldn’t use the speakerphone option in public.
  • If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
  • I really didn’t like how Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s board of trustees handled the Paige Patterson situation. He basically got a promotion and still gets to live on campus despite how badly he counseled abused women and making a perverted remark about a sixteen-year-old. You’d be amazed at how much faith and trust I had in SBC leadership as a teen and college student.
  • No other local news personality gets under my skin more than WFAA’s Cynthia Izaguirre. I was really touched by how Dale Hansen reacted about how his best friend was honored in the video in the previous post and Izaguirre interjects with something to try to make the moment more significant and plays up the camera with appears to be false sincerity.
  • Man mistakenly runs full Fargo marathon instead of half-marathon
