Bag of Randomness

  • I have a few thoughts about the shoes that were thrown at Dubya the other day.  For one, I think the Secret Service was a tad slow to react, and I bet someone will get their tailed chewed out.
  • I bet that video will make Secret Service training videos.
  • Imagine if that wasn’t a shoe, but something deadlier?  That’s a scary thought.  I’m not trying to write some sort of Hollywood screenplay or anything, but it’s conceivable that someone can make a non-metallic knife and sneak it in using a sock or some type of compartment in the shoe itself.
  • I’m waiting for a YouTube video where someone edits that press conference with the Austin Powers clip when that henchman throws a shoe at Austin and you hear him say, “But honestly, who throws a shoe?”
  • Not only does he have cat like reflexes, but he didn’t hide behind that podium.
  • How heroric (in a comic book sense) would it have been if Dubya caught both shoes and hurled them back.
  • The Rangers should look at signing the shoe throwing guy . . . he’s got a better arm than our current pitchers.
  • I pray for our next president’s safety.
  • And of course I pray for the current one as well.
  • I hear Obama will be riding a train to his inaugeration – good idea.
  • I remember when Dubya was sworn in the first time around.  Because the nerd that I am, I was on the White House’s website and wondered how quickly the website would change and be updated the moment he was sworn in.  All I can really remember is that I kept checking for 15 minutes and nothing happend, but after a few hours I noticed a change.
  • Sometimes it’s just great to listen to an album from start to finish.  Sometimes tracks are purposely arranged in a certain to tell a story, and it brings back good memories.
  • DirecTV has a commercial with Beyonce singing “Upgrade.”  That song gets easily stuck in my head.
  • I’m happy Amy Poehler is leaving SNL.  For a while, she was the main focus on the majority of skits and it was overkill for me.
  • Speaking of SNL, I thought it was tastless to mock blindness.
  • I still wear a jacket that has the college I attended embroidered into it.  I don’t wear it because I’m proud of the school, but I wear it because it’s very functional and comfortable for the weather we are having.  Someone noticed the college name and approached me and told me that was one good university.  I was honest with him and told him that if I had things to do over again I would have gone there, but I did appreciate the small class sizes and the accessibility to the profs.
  • I think some folks turn college into a false idol, but that could apply to just about anything.
  • I’m going to have to check the prices on insulated windows.
  • Our living room has tall ceilings, so it’s hard to heat.  If we turn the heat up to warm the living room, then our bedroom (which is also on the first floor) is uncomfortably warm.  With that said, I’m thinking of getting this portable propane heater to take the chill off in the living room for the 3-4 hours we spend in there at night.
  • The other night I heard a something fall in the living room or kitchen area.  I proptly woke up, told WifeGeeding to get the mace ready, and proceeded into the area with a “weapon” only to find that a notepad lost its stickyness and fell to the ground.  Thankfully my guard dogs had my back, just in case.
  • Some of you would be surprised about my “weapon.”
  • Let me let me let me upgrade . . . upgrade.
  • There hasn’t been a Christmas commercial this year that really stands out.
  • President Ulysses S. Grant declared Christmas a legal holiday in 1870.
  • I have never enjoyed being at a New Years party.
  • While watching the Survivor finale, I felt sorrow for some of those who have nothing but bitterness and hate in their heart.  There are some truely selfish people in this world.
  • Texas Stadium will hold its last Cowboys game this Saturday, you can vote for the last song to be played here.  I think those choices are pretty lame.
  • I saw on the local news that a young adult woman (29 years old I think) died while running the White Rock Marathon in Dallas.  How sad, and she looked very fit.  Someone filmed her right before she passed out and it made the news and I felt a little creepy watching it.
  • North Texans can’t drive in icy weather, nor is this area equipped to deal with such weather.  So many of you will laugh, but schools and businesses will shut down or open later.  I think I’ll be driving into work later in the day.  I say all that because it’s 26 degrees right now with freezing rain outside.
  • Yet it was about 76 degrees less than 24 hours ago.
  • Upgrade . . . upgrade . . . upgrade . . .

  • Sigh.  No Daily Show until the new year.
  • No more Arena Football, which means no more Dallas Desperado cheerleaders (whose uniforms might be better than the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’).  Double sigh.
  • On second thought, that might be a bit of an overstatement.

  • This is a nice looking VW that snuck up on my radar, but I don’t like the gas milage.  But I really like that car.  The one thing I really don’t like about my car is that it doesn’t have anti-lock brakes, and not having that safety feature for either me or my wife concerns me, especially in this icy weather.
  • Radar is my favorite palindrome.
  • I can never figure out where the Dallas MixMaster is located.
  • WifeGeeding always corrects me on the difference between bridges and overpasses.  To me, everything is just a bridge.
  • I’m told I have tiny hand writing.
  • I’ve never had a White Christmas.

Cowboys Uniform Modifications

I’m not sure when the modifications occurred, but you can certainly see a difference in uniforms over the last decade or so.  I prefer the old uniform with the darker blue, striped socks, and grayish pants.   I think the newer uniforms looks like a cheap knockoff you would find on a street corner.  I bet this is the reason why we haven’t won a playoff game in so long – the uniforms.  Not bad coaching or draft picks or free agency signings, but the change in uniform.  Yeah, that’s it . . .
