  • It’s been over a decade that I’ve been to a skating rink.  I remember going to skating parties as a kid, and that weird feeling after taking them off and walking around and still feeling as if I should be rolling.
  • I remember being a decent skater in elementary school, and didn’t attempt to skate again until I was in college.  It was one of those things I where I thought it was like hopping on a bicycle, you know, that you never forget.  Boy, was I wrong.

  • I caught some of Dubya’s last press conference.  It was touching, humbling, and frustration all in one.  He makes a good point on not visiting after Katrina because rescue personel would be taken away from rescue duty to protect him, and I appreciate his admission of regrets about WMD’s and that Mission Accomplish banner.
  • I think I have only bought one thing at a mall booth.
  • Yes, there is a film called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt, but it was first a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.  You can read that story here.
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald’s full name is actually Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.
  • And yes, he was related to Francis Scott Key, the wrestler.  I’m kidding about the wrestler part, but he is related to the creator of the Star Spangled Banner.
  • He was married to a lady named Zelda.  I have no idea if she was the inspiration for the Nintendo game or if there is a legend named after her.
  • Keira Knightley is set to play his wife in an upcoming movie.  I think she plays too many period movies.
  • I’ve only seen the first three seasons of 24, and wish I would have caught the season premier even though I would be out of the loop regarding everything in between.
  • The CBS show The Big Bang Theory is growing on me.  I actually know people that would refuse to watch that show because it would interfere with their creationalist beliefs.
  • I really connected with How I Met Your Mother last night.  Let’s just say me and Marshall worry about the same things while we are at work.
  • For the first time since jet airliners took to the sky, U.S. carriers have gone two years without a single passenger fatality.  Article

SNL Digital Short – Orchestral Doogie Howser

I have a feeling this won’t be up for long, so watch it while you can. The ending is priceless, but you may not be able to see it since the quality of the video isn’t very sharp.

Church removes ‘scary crucifix’

A large sculpture of Christ on the cross has been removed from outside a church in West Sussex after its vicar said it was “scaring young children”.

The Reverend Ewen Souter said the 10ft crucifix was “a horrifying depiction of pain and suffering” which was also “putting people off”.

The sculpture, located at the side of St John’s Church in Broadbridge Heath, has now been given to Horsham Museum.

It will be replaced with a new stainless steel cross.

In a survey carried out by the church, every comment about the sculpture was negative.
