My friend BibleScholarGeorge (seen here to the right*) is the savior of BagOfNothing. After church he was kind enough to come over to GeedingManor for some lunchtime fajitas. After lunch and chit-chat, we fired-up the laptops and played with the databases flux capacitors, and thanks to his expertise, all my old posts are saved.- I told BibleScholarGeorge that I can repay him one of two ways – I could buy him a steak, or swallow my pride and root for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles everytime they play the Cowboys this year. In a beautiful gesture of grace, I wll have to buy him a steak.

- I finally made time to watch the Jim Cramer appearance on the Daily Show. I expected Cramer to be combative, but instead he was almost apologetic and seemed very sincere and humbled – so you know he’s certainly not going to sue for libel. I’m left with a bit more respect for both men. Stewart certainly held Cramer’s feet to the fire, and as intelligent and loquacious as Stewart can be, I wish he wouldn’t curse during an interview. He makes excellent and thought-provoking points, but the language is often distracting and takes away from the conversation.
- I love 60 Minutes more than ever. The lead story was an interview by the phenominal Scott Pelli with the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke. Consider this, past Chairmans have never held an interview because the market will react to the littlest thing that comes out of his mouth – so this interview was simply fascinating. It left me feeling more confident that our financial crises is in good hands.
- I don’t think anyone other than Mike Wallace interviews better than Scott Pelli.
- When I worked at Fidelity I once took a phone call from Alan Greenspan’s assistance to transfer some funds for him. As you might imagine, the Chairman can’t hold any stocks in his account. If he did, you can imagine how the public might react knowing what companies he might think will be profitable.

- I often hear people say that everything happens for a reason, and that’s a concept I could not disagree with more. It’s one of those things you hear a lot in church circles, with the whole “it’s God’s will” added to it; but recently I listened to a sermon that supported my disagreement with that notion. Maybe some things happen for a reason, but not everything.
- The recent church shooting is certainly a tragedy, but here’s a story about how Methodists are urged to pray not only for the victim’s family, but for the shooter as well.
- You know, it’s amazing how emotional and nasty people can get (me included) when there’s a buffer between us and the opposing party. I don’t think people would be so cranky if it wasnt’ for the protection of the anonymity of the Internet, the lack of a physical presence while on the phone, or being inside a car knowing you will probably never see that person again. But if someone in a store bumps you, usually both parties are quick to offer some sort of apology. So perhaps it’s best just to move on regarding some recent comments on this blog.
