  • I’m not at work today because I’m with WifeGeeding as she gets a new glass-eye.  If possible, I think I’m going to “document” the process.
  • It’s a petty thing, but as a resident of Lewisville, I get annoyed when people, especially the media, refer to our lake as Lake Lewisville – it’s Lewisville Lake.
  • I also get annoyed when people pronounce the city of Coppell as “ka-pel.”  There’s no “a” in the name people.
  • You can try to refute me on this, but WifeGeeding works for their school system and during a convocation the mayor spoke and stated the correct pronunciation, and also stated that “ka-pel” annoys him.
  • I almost felt like I was in college again.  Last night my buddy Bone called to say that he and my other good buddy Jimi were eating at Wing Stop.  We just happened to be in the car heading towards that area, so we decided to join them.  Little did we know we would hang out for several hours, both at Wing Stop and Bone’s new apartment.  I haven’t done anything ‘spontaneous’ like that in quite some time.
  • No one in the world can make me laugh harder than Jimi, he just brings it out of me.  I haven’t laughed as hard and as long as I did last night in a very, very long time.
  • Bone is a rather large and muscular man, and he couldn’t use his bear claw hands easily enough to hook up his stereo equipment.  I was glad I could help.
  • Women who smoke, put their feet on the dash, and wear sleeveless turtleneck sweaters are a major turnoff.
  • I noticed that the sports anchor on our local Fox station has some sort of spinning CGI background – it was making me dizzy.
  • But I do like being able to watch the local news an hour earlier than the other stations.
  • This pet seal reminds me of a movie called The Golden Seal that I saw as a child.
  • The Death Star control room actually has an interesting background story.
  • The Jonas Brothers will be playing at the new Cowboys Stadium this weekend.  I think my favorite Jonas Brother is, uh . . . . Adam.  Yeah, that’s it, Adam.
  • The stadium is actually doing a smart thing, they are setting up a concession area outside for the parents to hang out until the concert is over.
  • Mike Huckabee and Jon Stewart discussed abortion on The Daily Show last night.  I thought it was a very mature and civil conversation between the two, and was something I wish I could see more of regarding politics.  I just wish the audience would keep quiet more often.  You can watch the whole interview here.
  • I disagree with Huckabee on many issues, but I admire the guy for coming on The Daily Show to express his views in an eloquent and respectful way. I’m still surprised that he wasn’t the GOP’s choice during the last election.

District’s error delays summer break by 34 school days for some students

School’s out for summer — except for hundreds of children in western San Bernardino County who, because of an administrative snafu, must make up 34 days of school this summer.

The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders at Rolling Ridge Elementary in Chino Hills and Dickson Elementary in Chino exceeded the state’s requirement of minutes spent in the classroom, and the last day of school was supposed to be Thursday. But because of the complexities of state law and a clerical error on a spreadsheet, the Chino Unified School District will lose more than $7 million in state funds if classes end at the schools before July 31.
