Tampons Falling From The Sky

A Dutch tampon company dropped a plethora of tampons with parachutes on six different beaches.

It kind of reminds me of those “Tampax Was There” commercials. You would see a real perky energetic girl doing something like dancing or cheerleading, and then the commercials would simply end with “Tampax Was There.”

OK, that’s enough tampon talk.

And for some reason I feel the need to use an Austin Powers quote: There’s only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people’s cultures and . . . the Dutch.

Embedding a YouTube Video May Cost You a Bundle in ASCAP Bills

Fresh off a court victory against Google’s YouTube, ASCAP tells us it is setting its sights on users of the video-sharing site. Welcome to the exciting world of copyright licensing, blogger; you may already owe gobs of money!

ASCAP licenses the performance rights for music, collecting royalties for its songwriter members when their songs are played in certain contexts.

Those contexts now include a YouTube video embedded on your blog or website, assuming your site is not “purely” non-commercial and is deemed large enough by ASCAP.

Bag of Randomness

  • I remember back in the day watching The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and then Love Connection (we’ll be back in two and two), and then Late Night with David Letterman.  Now, there’s nothing between The Tonight Show and Late Night.
  • Sometimes I wish I was an undercover cop just so I could write traffic tickets.  It would be cool to roll down the window and put one of those single magnetic flashers on the top of my car like you would see in an 80’s cop show.
  • The average American uses 57 squares of toilet paper a day.  Link
  • The WB33 decided to hire a native Texan and former Miss Missouri USA as a sports anchor.  Link I have to admit, that headline does sound a bit confusing.
  • I wonder how many street vendors are making money off Michael Jackson’s death selling merchandise created themselves.
  • I also wonder how much tax revenue was brought in to the city because of the death.
  • For those of you that saw his ghost footage on CNN, here’s an explanation.
  • Is it even possible to bleach skin?
  • Paul McCartney will be playing at the new Cowboys Stadium soon, but I’m too young to appreciate his music.
  • KMart has a new Christmas website.
  • I had a feeling something like this might happen .  .  . Remember when I posted about my dental visit?  Turns out they not only read my post but are now following me on Twitter.
  • Now I feel a bit awkward about that eye candy comment, but it was meant as a compliment.  I mean, check out that girl on the Twitter link.  And in that picture is the computer that I used to fill out my forms and sign using my finger.
  • And I have to go back and get two cavities filled.
  • WifeGeeding and I visited a Dr Gilliland in Dallas yesterday to discuss a procedure about replacing an implant that lies in here ocular cavity were her glass-eye rests.  If she decides to go through with it, it could make for some good blog material.
  • One of my college roommates was a Gilliland, but it appears they are not related.
  • WifeGeeding and I spotted something very strange in our neighborhood the other night.  We  made a run to our local 7-Eleven which is located in a small shopping center or strip mall for a late night Slurpee; and outside one of the connected restaurants parked side by side was a Bentley and a Maserati.
  • I counted four Bentleys on way to my dentist appointment the other day when I drove through the Preston Hollow neighborhood.
  • Infinity cars have caught my attention as of late.
  • What’s the plural form of Infinity and Lexus?
  • Before the doctor appointment WifeGeeding and I ate at Freebirds and saw a guy wearing a Hardin-Simmons football shirt.  He actually knew my old roommate Gilliland.  But I forgot his name already.
