Naked passenger forces flight turnaround

OAKLAND, CA (KGO) — A Southwest flight was forced to turn around after an altercation on one of its flights.

The Alameda County sheriff’s department says two people were injured, a woman and a man and one of them took off all their clothes.

The flight originated in Oakland, and was on its way to St. Louis when the disruption happened.

Pilots changed their course, and headed back to Oakland. Ambulances took both the man and the woman to area hospitals for treatment.

CBS and Pepsi bring video ads to printed page

When some readers of Entertainment Weekly open their magazines next month, they will discover characters from US television programmes speaking to them from a wafer-thin video screen built into the page.

The marketing experiment – which is being conducted by CBS, the US broadcaster, and Pepsi, the soft drinks maker – recalls the fantasy newspapers of the Harry Potter films and works much like a singing greetings card, with the video starting once a reader turns the appropriate page.

What happens to your email account when you are dead

I found the following a bit interesting while reading this Time article:

E-mail doesn’t always disappear with you either. Yahoo! Mail’s rule is to keep accounts private: “The commitment Yahoo! makes to every person who signs up for an account is to treat their online activities as confidential, even after their death,” says spokesman Jason Khoury. Court orders sometimes overrule that. In 2005, relatives of a Marine killed in Iraq sued to gain access to his e-mail account. A judge sided with the family, but instead of turning over the account’s password, Yahoo! copied the e-mails onto a CD. Hotmail now allows family to order a CD as long as they can supply proof of death and proof of relationship. Gmail requires the same proof, as well as the copy of an entire e-mail sent from the deceased to the petitioner.

There’s Another DART

The Dallas regional transit authority system is called DART – Dallas Area Rapid Transport.

Turns out Des Moines also has a DART:

DART suspends driver after she refuses to use bus bearing atheist ad

Controversy over a bus advertisement promoting a local atheist group has found its way to the driver’s seat.

On Monday, the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority suspended bus operator Angela Shiel after she refused to drive a bus with an Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers ad on its side. Shiel, 41, said the ad’s message, “Don’t believe in God? You are not alone,” went against her Christian faith.
