  • Someone asked about our FBI visit on Saturday, and I’m surprised that I didn’t mention it yesterday.  The agent came right at 2:00 PM as he stated he would, right on the dot, but it was during the third quarter of TX-OU.  But hey, my country needed me, not to mention God created this thing called Tivo.  He showed us his identification, which was cool btw, and then the three of us sat around the dinner table.  Most of his questions where things you can probably think of on your own regarding character and relationship, but it was still interesting.  I was proud of myself for not referencing the X-Files one single time.

Earth, Moon, and Jupiter, as Seen From Mars

What does Earth look like when viewed from Mars? At 13:00 GMT on 8 May 2003, the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) had an opportunity to find out. In addition, a fortuitous alignment of Earth and Jupiter—the first planetary conjunction viewed from another planet—permitted the MOC to acquire an image of both of these bodies and their larger satellites. At the time, Mars and the orbiting camera were 139 million kilometers (86 million miles) from Earth and almost 1 billion kilometers (nearly 600 million miles) from Jupiter.
