Time Lapse Video: Salvaging US Airways Flight 1549

A little more than a year after one of the most impressive landings in the history of aviation, N106US, formerly known as Flight 1549, will be on the auction block. Word on the street is that there are some very interested buyers out there with some very creative plans for this Airbus A320. David Martin, who lives just above the site of the water landing, spent 72 hours filming time lapse video of the recovery effort to remove /the submerged aircraft from the Hudson River. The result is more than a little bit impressive.

Lying Down on the Job

LONDON – International hotel chain Holiday Inn is offering a trial human bed-warming service at three hotels in Britain this month.

If requested, a willing staff-member at two of the chain’s London hotels and one in the northern English city of Manchester will dress in an all-in-one fleece sleeper suit before slipping between the sheets.

“The new Holiday Inn bed warmers service is a bit like having a giant hot water bottle in your bed,” Holiday Inn spokeswoman Jane Bednall said in an e-mailed statement.

Lost’s Oceanic 815 crash in real time

OK, so you know Oceanic flight 815, that airplane that crashed on that weird island on ABC’s Lost?

Well, you know there was a bunch of stuff happening all over the place as it came down, and one enterprising fan has taken the various pieces of film from various episodes and strung them all together, a la Fox’s 24, to come up with a 10-minute, real-time version of events just as the plane was coming apart in the sky. At crucial moments, the events occur on split screen to let you see what was going on simultaneously. It’s extremely well done.
