What if I had bought Apple stock instead?

Currently, Apple’s stock is at an all time high. A share today is worth over 40 times its value seven years ago. So, how much would you have today if you purchased stock instead of an Apple product?

It’s a rather large and interesting chart, but here’s an example:

The Apple PowerBook G3 250 was released on Nov 10, 1997 for $5700.  If you bought $5700 worth of Apple stock instead of that PowerBook, that stock would be worth about $330,563 today.

Quadski

Gibbs Technologies, the world’s only High Speed Amphibian (HSA) technology specialist, today unveiled a prototype of the first commercially viable high-speed personal sports amphibian – Quadski.

Quadski is the third demonstration of Gibbs’ HSA technology following the successes of the Aquada and the Humdinga. It is capable of travelling up to 50 mph (72 kph) on land and water and makes the transition at the flick of a switch.

Home totaled in mix-up

A demolition crew rolled its bulldozer up the wrong side of Ruddell Street last week, leaving Francis Howard with a big hole in the front of her longtime family home.

Howard, 69, lives with her son in Frisco. She said another woman, who was digging irises in the flower beds Wednesday, tried to stop the crew before the porch and the front of the house came tumbling down.

The crew was supposed to be tearing down 721 Ruddell, the house across the street.

“I don’t have the words to say,” Howard said.

According to city records, Denton’s Construction and Advisory Appeals Board ordered in January that house either be repaired or demolished. In the past six years, city code enforcement officers have found six violations there, including high grass and weeds, outside storage, junked vehicles and failure to secure the structure.

Howard is having trouble figuring out what to do next. According to city records, her home also was in front of the Construction and Advisory Appeals Board on April 15, but she had pledged to repair it by July 15. Cabrales said the clock is still ticking on that deadline, but she could ask for an extension.

Howard’s house number — 724 — and a “no trespassing” sign still hung prominently on her half-standing structure Monday morning. The house was her family’s home for 47 years.

More on Ed Young, Fellowship Church, and that Private Jet

Here’s the article that provides the referenced links and materials mentioned in the segment.

The most intriguing part to me is that the jet is used to fly to Tyler quite often, which is only about a two hour drive from the church.  So if he were to drive from the church to Alliance Airport, that in itself is a half hour drive.  I’d rather drive, check out the East Texas pines, and save jet fuel and maintenance – money that can be used to further the ministry.
