A Picture behind a falling drop. This is the essence of such shots. Looks very simple. But to set the Focus on the Right point and find a good lighting is not as easy as it looks !

You can view Maianer’s Flickr set of these pics here, and see how he was able to capture these most awesome shots here, but I think this one photo best displays the method.

Bag of Randomness

  • I didn’t know that Mark Wahlberg was originally booked on one of the 9/11 flights, but I think all the action hero roles he’s been playing may have got to his head because when he was asked about it, he said, “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.'”
  • The best line I’ve heard about that Wahlberg story comes from my blogging friend Barry who said, “Who does he think he is? C.J. Wilson?”
  • The guys on the radio were talking about the difference between “street” and “avenue”.  I always thought that streets went north and sought and avenues went east to west, at least that’s how it was in my town.  But after a little research, it turns out I’m wrong.  There’s no telling how many things I believe are still true that I learned in my childhood that really aren’t true.
  • That third-grade unidentified teacher that taught math using slave questions resigned.  She said she was trying to link those questions to a  history lesson about Frederick Douglass.
  • To earn money for Olympic training, one U.S. athlete is auctioning off a temporary tattoo to display on his arm.
  • I saw John McCain on Letterman and learned his son attends Texas A&M, which explains why we was on the Aggies’ sideline on Thanksgiving sporting their hat.
  • I can’t pay my HOA dues electronically, so I had to write a check and I did so the last week in November.  Yesterday, it was finally cashed, despite calling them once a week since Dec 15 and them telling me I was in good standing and just make sure I had funds available in my checking account.

  • I’m looking forward to the Feb 11 episode of SNL.  Not only will the adorkable Zooey Deschanel be hosting, but the musical guest will be Karmin [link].  You may remember Karmin better by that fast rapping white girl YouTube video.  I don’t subscribe to many YouTube channels, but I subscribe to theirs.
  • One of the better stories I’ve heard in a long time – a homeless kid won the science fair and will be invited to the State of the Union.
  • Dale Hansen will stay with WFAA but is going to take a 32% pay cut.
  • Steve Carrell made a sneaky cameo on last week’s “The Office”.

  • Cindy Crawford’s daughter  has just made her modeling debut for Versace‘s 12-and-under collection.  A few more years, and she’ll be atop one of Barry’s morning posts.
