Bag of Randomness

  • I have some Canadian readers and follow a few on Twitter, it was interesting to see them tweet about watching the presidential debate last night.  I’m sure most American’s can’t even name the Canadian prime minister.
  • At the end of the debate Bob Schieffer closed a purple binder.  I can’t help but wonder if that was a TCU binder he will later donate to the Schieffer School of Journalism.
  • With this being a debate about foreign policy, I was a little surprised Romney didn’t bring up Libya.
  • With this being a debate about foreign policy, I was a little surprised Obama didn’t bring up Romney’s comments about the London Olympics.
  • The last time the top Democratic and Republican presidential candidates without any prior military service face each other was back in 1944 – Roosevelt vs Dewey.
  • “Nightline” took my advice and got rid of Nicolle Wallace and Donna Brazile for their debate coverage.  They were replaced with Martha Raddatz.  She, along with Matthew Dowd provide great analysis.
  • I know how one Dallas Cowboy offensive lineman spent his Victory Monday.  Yesterday evening I walked out the front door to get some fresh air and saw a shirtless Doug Free mowing his lawn.
  • I’d say at around 90% of the people on my street hire a lawn mowing service, so it’s interesting seeing the wealthiest person on the street be prudent and mow his own lawn.
  • Those pictures of Fidel Castro gardening reminded me of a scene in The Godfather when Don Corleone had that health episode chasing his grandson in the garden.
  • Fun little Godfather trilogy fact . . . everytime you see an orange, death is near.
  • This article somewhat answers my polling land line polling question: the CBS/Quinnipiac poll called cell phones, while the others, except for a Fox poll showing Obama up by 3, surveyed only land lines.
  • Dying WWII vet casts his last vote
  • A bear looking a child dressed as a bear
  • Cutest gif you’ll ever see of a dog being carried down an escalator
  • A great picture that shows how a tree is cut up for lumber
  • If you follow college football this is a great costume, unless you’re an Arkansas fan.  Context for those of you not in the know.
