- The splints that were removed from my nostrils yesterday are called Doyle splints. I don’t actually have a picture of mine, but here’s one from Wikipedia after them being removed and at an angle so you can see how far they actually go back. That picture is a somewhat Tempting Picture of the Day.
- The worst part of the procedure was removing the stitch, after that, the removal of the splints was basically relief. I have to go back next week to have some sort of packing film removed. And I guess that leads to the somewhat Tempting Video of the Day – Me, getting the stints removed
- It’s great being able to have a clearer nasal passage, but I still have lots of drainage and bleeding, so even gentle blowing of the nose and sniffling is painful. Heck, it even hurts to smile. Actually, I need a refill of my pain meds, the crazy bad headaches have returned.

Bag of Randomness
- I’ll admit, anytime something happens on a national stage, like a presidential inauguration I breath a sigh of relief when it’s over and nothing bad happens.
- There was a blonde Secret Service agent that kept getting my attention.
- I got a kick out of CBS’s Scott Pelley’s comments after Beyonce singing of the national anthem, “Not at all sure that Beyonce needed the microphone. I’m sure they probably could have heard her all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial without it. A beautiful rendition.”
- So Beyonce gets to sing the national anthem at the inauguration in January and perform at the Super Bowl in February. That’s a heck of a way to start the year.
- A lot of folks got a kick out of what appeared to be Bill Clinton checking out Kelly Clarkson.
- It’s a macabre thought, but as I watch Obama walk across the floor of the Capitol rotunda floor after the inaugural luncheon, I couldn’t help but think that one day, hopefully many decades from now, but one day he will lay in state in that exact same spot. Combine that with that last look he took of the crowd, it’s like he thinks he won’t make any future inaugurations.
- To something more uplifting, I still get a kick out of this picture from the previous inauguration.
- I was looking at GoogleMaps to get a better idea about Washington D.C. and I’m not sure how current the satellite image is, but it shows the inauguration stage being built for yesterday’s event or perhaps taken down or being assembled for a previous inauguration.
- Something else I noticed in that map was a dog and cat sitting/walking service inside the capitol.
