Don’t fall asleep during his sermon, he’s important

I thought I’d just watch the first minute but he has so many one-liners I just couldn’t stop watching.

I’d love to be in attendance on a fall Sunday and leave just as kickoff is approaching and when asked just being totally honest with him.

‘Impure Thoughts’ keeps 12-year-old girl from being part of a football team

A 12-year-old girl has been kicked off her Christian school’s football team over the fear she might arouse “impure thoughts” among her male teammates.

Maddy Paige of Jackson, Ga., was the starting left defensive tackle as a sixth-grader for Strong Rock Christian School, a private academy in Locust Grove, Ga.

But she was recently informed by the private school’s CEO that she was not welcome to play as a seventh-grader.

“It’s like taking my dream and throwing it in the trash,” Maddy told WXIA-TV in Atlanta.

As far as a reason, Maddy’s mother, Cassy Blythe, told the station: “In the meeting with the CEO of the school [Patrick Stuart], I was told that the reasons behind it were one, that the boys were going to start lusting after her and have impure thoughts about her and that the locker-room talk was not appropriate for a female to hear even though she had a separate locker room from the boys.”

Bag of Randomness

  • Our ten year anniversary dinner was spent at III Forks at the request of WifeGeeding, and the staff was nice enough to let us have a private dining room to celebrate the milestone.  I think they only did this for us because we are early diners, dinner time for us is usually around 5:30 PM.
  • At 2:00 AM Saturday DogGeedingII was growling so much it woke me up.  I heard people speaking quite loudly outside, but when I looked out the window I couldn’t see anyone.  As I looked out our front door two girls and one guy were standing and talking quite loudly just outside of it.  I turned on the light and with the door shut, I asked them to leave.  I was quite surprised at their reply, “Hurry up and just open the door.”  I could tell they where quite drunk and I asked them to leave again saying telling them they were at the wrong house, but they refused getting more agitated.  I showed my face through the small side window right next to the door, and asked them to leave again saying I was going to call the cops, only for them to ask me to open the door for them again.  This went back and forth a few more times, and right when WifeGeeding was going to call the cops and I was highly considering showing them either a can of pepper spray or my shotgun, they finally came to the realization they were at the wrong house.  I checked the back of the house to make sure they weren’t just trying to distract my attention to the front while getting something in the back, but thankfully all was fine.  When I took a better look out my window, the only porch light on was my across the street Dallas Cowboy neighbor with several cars parked outside, so I’m guess the party was at his house?  If so, that would have be out of character for him because he’s been nothing but low key, has never had a large gathering at his house, and has been an ideal quiet neighbor.
  • The one was lengthy bullet point.
  • It’s funny that DogGeedingII will loudly bark at anything that moves, usually at the most inopportune time of day (like when the kids are napping), but this time he only managed a growl with people at the front door.
  • I’m writing this at a time in which I don’t know for sure if Bob and Dan will still be part of The TICKET.  But after listening to their show on Friday, the clues that they are leaving were certainly there.  Bob started the show saying they need to treasure these moments, in the middle they talked about how they were voted the best radio show in Dallas by the Dallas Observer and joked how it changed their lives, and Dan ended it hugging Mike and Corby, in his dry whit, “Just in case.”  Funny thing, but as they were interviewing Scott Farrell, he did nothing but compliment the station saying how it’s a first rate station and a ratings behemoth – that must have been odd for Bob and Dan.  Richie Whitt reported that it all comes down to Cumulus’ decision to match The Fan’s offer.  So if they are on the air Monday, Cumulus matched, if not, then we won’t hear them on the radio waves for six months, per the non-compete clause on their expiring contract.  And as Whitt has reminded us, the Hardline almost left for the Fan back in 2009.
  • If Bob and Dan do leave, I think it would be bet for The Fan to put them up against the Hardline, which I think is vulnerable, unlike the Musers.  I’d more than likely listen to Bob and Dan over the Hardline.
  • And in case you are wondering about Donovan, his contract expires in January, but I doubt he’d leave willingly.
  • EDIT:  BaDD radio will be back on the air Monday on The TICKET just like always.  I wonder with the pay increase will Bob adopt another kid.

  • Pixar has made 14 movies, all of them have opened number one at the box office when release.  That’s a lot of pressure on the folks making the next movie.
  • Mad Men thoughts:
    • Only 13 episodes left until it’s all over.
    • It’s interesting Stan is really wanting to move up in the corporate world, I don’t think I ever saw that coming.
    • Roger’s daughter was kind of acting like a brat.  I did like that last scene with Roger at Joan’s trying to interact with his youngest.  It’s like he really wants to get this one right.
    • “I love Hershey’s, get me a room.” – I think Don was talking dirty to me.
    • Roger doesn’t have good gaydar, he thinks Bob is intruding on his territory.  But, I love how quick Bob arrived to his office when summoned.
    • Sally, “I wouldn’t want to do anything immoral, why don’t you tell them what I saw.”  Ouch.
    • It was fun seeing Don being witnessed to. But then that minister said “There’s not one true believer on that list”  that ticked me off and reminded me of some days in the evangelical church that I’d rather forget.  Did he forget about MLK?  That minister deserved to get punched.
    • I saw on a message board that in the opening scene of the pilot, the song “Band of Gold” was playing, and that was the song playing when Don and the minister got into it.
    • Pete lost his father to an airplane crash and now his mother died by falling off a cruise ship, wow.  I think both of their bodies were never recovered.  There’s probably symbolism there that I’m not grasping.   Maybe Pete will die by train or car.  I guess her death is similar to Don’s suicide paradise ad.? But I was kind of surprised that Pete didn’t have a look of relief on his face when he heard the news.
    • Don, “Because I realized it’s getting out of control, I got out of control.”
    • That scene where Don is at the head of the table talking to the partners about moving to California kind of made him look like he was the Don of a mafia.
    • It’s funny when Pete starts talking about how he has bigger problems and no one really seemed to care.
    • Bob, “How are you?” Pete, “NOT great BOB” – That reminded me of a scene from Groundhog’s Day.
    • Peggy was trying to knock ’em dead, and I think she did, especially with Ted.  Wouldn’t it have been great if Ted’s wife asked why he smelled like Chanel No. 5?
    • Pete doesn’t know how to drive a standard, every man should learn how to do that some time in life.  But I loved the setup by Bob.  Yes, give me more Bob Benson.
    • Ted, “I don’t know why women do anything.”  So, so true.
    • It’s sad that Don doesn’t want to be there for Sally when she’s in trouble, at least initially.  Maybe there’s hope for me as a father.  It’s also interesting how Sally was using a fake ID, like her father has been doing for most of his life.
    • Everybody wants to start over, and Ted wants to run to the West Coast to get as far away from Peggy is kind of a baby move.
    • I think Ted was telling Don that he’s his kryptonite.
    • Funny how Ted told Don that he needed to drink.
    • “Well, weren’t you a lucky little boy.” – Hey Don, this isn’t confessional.
    • It was amazing to see him be so raw and truthful, something I think we’ve all wanted to see and something we all didn’t want to see.
    • “First of all, there are a lot of sharks.”
    • Peggy, “Well, aren’t you lucky, to have decisions.”
    • “Going down?” Yup, Don’s life was going down, but with the closing scene, I see a comeback.  Everybody loves a comeback.
    • Seeing Bob at Thanksgiving at Joan’s was great.
    • Peggy working in Don’s office . . . foreshadowing?  Yup, especially with her silhouette.
    • Pete in California?  I bet he’s got a new job thanks to Ducky but there’s no way he’s written off the series.  At least I didn’t catch anything that said SC&P were sending him out there.
    • Now that I think if it, SCDP to SC&P was quite a foreshadow.
    • Pete wasn’t at that partners meeting, so I wonder if that guy Don ran into at the elevator with Ducky was replacing Pete.
    • I think Don is going to come clean with everything next season and that was a heck of an ending for him to show his kids where he grew up.  Maybe next season will be a lot of soul searching and redemption but split with Megan, but I have no idea how it will all end, and that’s how I like it.
    • Don not going to California I think means he’s wanting to stop running from things, including his alias.
    • I think there’s going to be some talk about how there wasn’t a death this season, but perhaps Don Draper finally died, and were going to see who Dick Whitman is.  All the allusions of death this season and it was actually Don that died.  Well, excluding Pete’s mother, of course.
    • Roger’s mom died the first episode this season and Pete on the last episode, that’s some crazy bookends.
    • The closing song was “Both Sides Now,”
    • 1968 has often been referred to as a very depression year for America, and we saw it was for Don, with this season ending at Thanksgiving.  I still think the first episode of next season will be about redemption and hope and will start with the first manned lunar orbit on Dec 21, 1968.  If you recall, Mad Men seasons usually start off in December.
