  • I cooked and tasted quinoa for the first time yesterday.  It’s one of those “super foods” and I liked it enough that I want to incorporate it into my diet.  Here’s a good comparison between it and brown rice.
  • DaughterGeeding is now strong enough to open the refrigerator on her own, that’s both a good and a bad thing.
  • WifeGeeding (a former kindergarten teacher) once told me that when a child hands me a drawing to not ask what it is or try to figure out stuff about it, but rather ask the child to tell you about the picture.
  • My Verizon Fios install is today.  Two days a contracting crew buried a fiber-optic cable and yesterday afternoon a Verizon truck was outside the house for the longest time.  I decided to talk to the guy outside and Fios was out for the entire block . . . gulp, not a good sign since that’s why I’m leaving Time Warner.  Well, it turns out that contracting crew that buried my line yesterday screwed up service for the block but cutting into a conduit, so yesterday afternoon and until past 11:30 PM a crew that ranged from one to six at times were working on someone else’s mistake, even setting up lights, using a digging excavator, and installing large spools of wiring to get the job done.  I guess it’s good news for me to get this all done before my actual install, but I felt so bad for them I walked out and gave them some soft drinks and cookies WifeGeeding baked.
  • I have to admit I gave them drinks and cookies for two reasons, I thought they could use a pick-me-up and I’m trying to watch my calorie/fat intake so the less cookies the better.
  • That’s one way to do it, I guess – Church battles local hunger with food fight
  • I wish emails would have an option to Reply/Forward and then Delete option.  It would save me a step from actually replying/forwarding and then going back and deleting the message.  I actually suggested it to the Outlook team yesterday during their Reddit AMA.
  • Something for the ‘Breaking Bad’ fans, the Los Pollos Hermanos Yelp page.  Regarding Sunday’s episode, I hear that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul both filmed their last scenes in this upcoming episode.

  • I see Alabama over Texas A&M by 15 because I don’t like what I’ve seen out of A&M’s defense this year.
  • I really didn’t know what to think about Texas Tech’s football uniforms last night.
  • See what dancing on campus leads to – Baylor students indicted for mushroom growing operation, marijuana
  • I was a student at Hardin-Simmons when Baylor lifted the dancing ban and I recall a few sacrosanct classmates of mine saying that was the beginning of a slippery slope of Baylor losing their morals.
  • The First Lady is criticized for encouraging drinking an additional glass of water a day.
  • I would have thought the new Big Tex would have been revealed by now, I mean, he’s been dead longer than three days.
  • The Texas Giant will reopen this weekend, I’m sure that’s going to be an ominous atmosphere.
  • An actor playing a zombie in ‘The Walking Dead’ was hit by a military vehicle per a 911 call.
  • I don’t think modern church buildings have an area actually named Fellowship Hall.

  • I always find it absolutely adorable when a dog uses his paws to hold a bone upright when chewing on it.
  • DaughterGeeding had her first trip to the dentist yesterday, it actually went quite well.
  • West Nile has been confirmed on my block so the city sprayed the neighborhood last night.
  • For some reason former KDFW sportscaster Paul Crane popped in my mind recently.  I remember him leaving the station of CNN.  He’s now working for a Shreveport station.  The last segment I can recall him doing for KDFW was being part of a fantasy camp in which he got to face Nolan Ryan pitching to him at Rangers spring training Port Charlotte, Florida.
  • My Verizon Fios install is scheduled for tomorrow but yesterday a crew came by to bury the fiber-optic cable.  It turns out that four houses end up sharing a connection.
  • I recorded a special on Discovery that interviews or profiles all the Chiefs of Staffs since LBJ which I think will be pretty interesting.  I got to meet Hamilton Jordan once when he spoke at HSU and he talked about wearing a disguise .
  • WifeGeeding and the kids are going to East Texas to visit family and I’m throwing the sickest party at GeedingManor.  Or I might just veg out and embrace the peace and quiet around me, and I’ll probably tell peace and quiet how much I missed them and why they don’t visit more often.
  • WifeGeeding is obsessed or jealous of what God gave Tammy Dombeck.  In Dombeck’s latest commercial for a car show, WifeGeeding thinks the overhead camera shot is used solely to accentuate her top.  I told her that the camera shot was used because it’s the best way to showcase the cars and she rolled her only good eye at me.
  • I actually somewhat knew Tammy Dombeck because I use to work with her college roommate and we’d email back and forth occasionally with funny stories of said roommate and whatnot.  To WifeGeeding’s chagrin, I have a autograph headshot of her hanging in the garage.
  • I don’t like how the C and V buttons are so close together, because sometimes when I’m trying to copy and paste something, I end up accidentally copying twice by fatfingering.
  • I think George Zimmerman has been in the headlines for something at least every month this year.  Here’s hoping October is Zimmerman free.
  • Ari Fleischer was the Press Secretary under President George W. Bush during 9/11/2001.  Yesterday he tweeted the events as it happened that day and what he and the President were doing. It was quite interesting.  I had to look up the DEFCON levels, and he stated that current (and possibly worst Press Secretary of all time) Jay Carney was in the press corp at the time and at one point he and eight others traveling with the President had to be left behind in Louisiana, which really ticked him off.  I’d love to hear hear his take on behing left half a country away from home and all air travel suspended.  I’m assuming he used the company card to rent a car to drive back home, but then again, I’m sure most rental cars were in use due to the cancelation of air travel.  Also, in anotoher tweet, Christians will appreciate the “I hope I read my Bible” quote.
  • Considering the 9/11 hijack took off from Boston, it wasn’t the smartest decision to hold a drill with smoke and flames at that airport the 9/11 anniversary.

  • There’s going to be a bit of a prequel to ‘Breaking Bad’ and it will focus on Saul Goodman.  His spinoff has been greenlit and the working title is genius, ‘Better Call Saul’.  The actor was actually on ‘The Daily Show’ last night, and I had no idea that BetterCallSaul.com was a functioning website.
