Mother claims doctor disfigured son after ‘botched’ circumcision
MEMPHIS, TN -(WMC-TV) – Circumcision for newborn boys is considered one of the most common medical procedures in the world. But one Memphis mother says her son was mutilated during the common surgery.
Maggie Rhodes’ son Ashton was three months old when she had him circumcised at a local low-cost clinic.
“When he was in the room, he was screaming like life and death like, like there wasn’t no tomorrow,” she said. “When she pulled back the cloth, like the thing was like gone. She cut up instead of down, instead of cutting around the top of the penis.”
Rhodes says her son was in surgery for nearly three hours.
“It took them about three hours to do the circumcision and so my baby screamed the whole three hours, like the whole process,” Rhodes said. “Then even when she gave him back to us, he was still screaming.”
Rhodes did not have her son circumcised in the hospital because she was unable to be present for the procedure. Also, her son had a cold during his six-week-checkup. The doctor said wait.
“You try to be the best mom you can be, but it’s like the attack of the enemies is always there,” said Rhodes. “I feel like I failed my son.”
Bag of Randomness
- I recently put on a jacket for the first time this year and disappointingly didn’t find anything cool stuff in the pockets left off from last year.
- For you non-local readers, you may be surprised to know that last night was the first freeze of the season. One of the local meteorologists stated the average day for the first freeze is November 22 . . . the same day Kennedy was shot. I’m told that my grandfathers birthday is 11/22 but I can’t find anything to back that up, the man’s been dead since 1968.
- I really enjoyed ‘Person of Interest’ last night, this has to be the best season of the show.
- Yes, I’ve got a macabre side to me and I’ve mentioned FindAGrave.com a few times before stating that you can find famous graves, but it turns out the website has branched out. For instance, my parents and grandparents’ graves are on the site and they ain’t famous. I’m really surprised that my grandparents’ graves are on there as they lie in a small rural cemetery between Mineral Wells and Weatherford, but my folks are a bit more understandable as they rest in a National Cemetery. Heck, there are almost 5,000 pictures of the graves in Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells and my uncle is one of them. To be honest, I really don’t know how I feel having my family’s grave markers on that website. I mean, it’s not really an invasion of privacy as anyone can go to the graves, and it doesn’t hurt anything having those pics online, but it does feel sorta weird.

It’s a bit early for Christmas but I don’t care
These two videos were popular on the interewebs today.
The first video is a Christmas commercial and the second shows how it was made. I actually like the second video more as I found it equally touching but more fascinating, especially how they blended the old technique of hand drawn animation, stop motion, and set design and blended it with modern technology. Laser cutting is so cool, I need one of those machines. I think this video is certainly worth two-and-a-half minutes of your day.
