- I wore shorts yesterday as it was over 80 degrees, that ain’t gonna happen today with the cold front.
- I really like NBC5’s new studio, but showing live traffic on that screen behind the anchors is too distracting.
- I got a haircut yesterday and the stylist kept stressing how I need to change my hair style to cover up my thinning hair at the top of my head and then tried to push a lot of hair products to combat the problem at me. Until yesterday I never thought I had a problem in that category.
- Speaking of feeling old, I can go for months without consulting the Urban Dictionary but I had to consult it three times this week.
- On Dec. 20, CBS will rebroadcast “The Christmas Episode” of “I Love Lucy, but in color. I think the idea of broadcasting the Christmas episode from a legendary program is a brilliant idea and wouldn’t mind seeing this happen with other great shows, but I’m not so sure about the colorizing idea, call me a purist. What is unique in this case is that this episode was never in syndication.
- Dallas is very lucky to have someone like Dirk that plays his heart out, help win us a championship, and has totally embraced the area and will do anything to promote his team. Compare that to what ARod did when he was a Ranger.
- There’s been a ton of marketing for the next Anchorman movie, now there’s a Ron Burgundy Scotchy Scotch Scotch.

- The prison is the island in which all are trying to leave. Some can’t wait to leave and others find comfort in the setting, and then there is the struggle to coexist in a mix diverse personalites.
- You are first introduced to the supporting characters and then get a major back story on how they got their and what shaped their personality.
- And this is a bit of a stretch, but the prison system is the Dharma Initiative. They wore coveralls and the prisoners uniforms looks similar to them.
- Barry over at LiberallyLean.com stated that Gary Patterson has gotten beat up for his comments about Art Briles. From the articles I read and the sports talk radio I listen to it seems about half think he over-reacted over a loss and the other half support Patterson regarding player safety and for the lack of player discipline Briles has, at least with Ahmad Dixon.
- We had tickets to the weekend’s UT/Baylor game but it’s gonna be too cold, and if the 16-year-old version of me heard that he would throw a rock at the 38-year-old-me.
- Of all college football games I’ve been to, the team I’ve seen the most is Baylor. I guess that’s what happens when you marry a Baylor gal. I don’t count Hardin-Simmons games, that’s just glorified high school, and in some cases, a few steps below.
- On the radio yesterday Dale Hansen says he hates it when the Cowboys win because it gives Jerry Jones vindication that he’s doing something right. I bet a lot of Cowboy fans feel that way.
- The TICKET referenced one of my tweets yesterday. They also had an interesting conversation about euthanasia, something I support to an extent. When my father was dying the process pretty much seemed like approved medical starvation and it bugged me seeing how long he had to wither away despite everyone knowing he was going to die.

- One of the more interesting questions Col Chris Hadfield answered in his Reddit AMA was about sneezing inside a spacesuit during a space walk and the possibility of getting stuck floating in the middle of a room on the space station. It also turns out all astronauts at some point try farting as a means of propulsion. I also learned that it’s impossible to burp when weightless because the gas, liquid, and solids in your stomach all mix together.

Modern Moms Aren’t as Busy as 1960s Moms Were
Mothers today may feel like they’re too busy to sit down, and many probably are, but a new report suggests that on average they are far more sedentary than moms were 50 years ago.
Since 1965, women with children have logged increasingly more time watching television and driving, and increasingly less time playing with children, doing chores, and exercising, according to a new report published this week in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
In 1965, mothers of children aged 5 to 18 spent 14.2 more hours a week being physically active than being sedentary. In 2010, they spent 3.8 more hours a week being sedentary than they did on physical activity.

Bag of Randomness
- The NFL Network has a special on the dominant Cowboys offensive line of the 90’s. It’s kind of crazy there was a special on the most significant contributor to the Cowboys success yet the current general manager doesn’t really give it a lot of attention today. But the special was surprisingly good.
- Not one member of that offensive line was drafted higher than the third round.
- Nate Newton and Pam Oliver were classmates at Florida A&M, she even referred to him as Nathaniel. He of course lost a significant amount of weight, but it looks like he’s put on a few more pounds from his weight loss commercials, actually, he looks healthier with the added pounds.
- I had no idea that Mark Tuinei played basketball with Barack Obama, had gang related issues, started out on defense behind Randy White when he first came to the team, and had a bit part in a ‘Magnum P.I.’ episode.
- Gary Busey was actually a part of the special, ore than you would think.
- The Coppell Deli was prominently seen.
- In the after show special Jerry Jones stated he has a special red phone in his office for emergency calls, like when players get in trouble.
- I feel like when it’s all said and done, you could make a decent argument that Rich Dalrymple deserves a spot in the Ring of Honor.
- Larry the Cable Guy is promoting medicine, should people really be taking medical advice from that guy?
- As you may have noticed I’ve been going through a lot of my father’s old stuff. So far I haven’t found anything that leads to a secret retirement fund or a Babe Ruth baseball card, but I did find an article about my great-grandparents’ 51st wedding anniversary. Until yesterday, I had no idea of their names and have never seen a picture of them. Actually, my great-grandmother’s name was left out of the article as they just listed the couple as Mr and Mrs Edward E. Geeding. Their address was listed, it looks like their house has been torn down. Sadly the article cut from the paper doesn’t have a date.
- If you are going to dress as a Disney character, you might as well dress as the ultimate Disney character.
- When I was in college I had a friend who was about to get married that was a big Green Bay Packers fan. For the heck of it, he sent a wedding invitation to the Packers and they responded with a very cool personalized letter. So when I got engaged I sent an invitation to Jerry Jones and to the Cowboys and got nothing. I thought of those two things when I saw this wedding invite sent to Peyton Manning.

- I ran across an urban legend that Sammy Davis Jr’s body was exhumed to remove the $70,000 worth of jewelry he was buried with. Actually, I ran across it on the @OMGFacts twitter feed a while back. I couldn’t find any creditable source online to support that claim so I’m calling bullsh.
- This time of year certain recycled news reports get on my nerves. One of them is Black Friday reports on location and another is the updated value of the twelve days of Christmas.
- The Christmas I can’t stand the most is “Feliz Navidad” and the music from “The Nutcracker” isn’t far behind.
- Using a two verses in the book of Luke, Tea Party activist states that ‘Jesus Christ is weeping in heaven’ over pope’s criticism of capitalism. One discouragement of people using scripture to back an argument is they don’t often take into account how a few particular verses plays to the context of the entire book, chapter, time, setting, culture, and a whole host of other things. But I think if you read the rest of that section you get a bit of a different perspective of why Jesus said what he said. With that said, I’m also a stickler for Jeremiah 29:11. People love to use this verse and apply it to them personally, but in this case God was trying to encourage those that have been exiled from Jerusalem and remind them of his promise to deliver them. I see how some folks can make it apply on a personal level, that God has made a promise to them he will fulfill promises to you, but I don’t think it’s a just comparison, and I have a feeling I may have just opened a hornets nest for being an armchair theologian.
