- My view was obstructed by a long Chevy truck and I promise I did look back, but when I backed out of my parking spot yesterday someone hit my passenger side rear bumper. #bummer. But hey, if that’s the worst thing that happens to me all week, life is still pretty darn sweet. WifeGeeding and BoyGeeding were in the car and weren’t harmed, and thankfully the driver of the BMW 528i wasn’t injured and despite being a little startled, was pretty friendly. I think my beard may have put a trance on her.

- Driving alone for the very first time is a very surreal and liberating feeling. My dad use to let me drive around small town Mineral Wells before I was old enough to get a license, a huge sign of trust I took seriously, but I wouldn’t dare let my kids do that in the Metroplex.
- I think the proudest I’ve been of myself, of all things, is growing a crepe myrtle. When I turned 30 MomGeeding gave me a tiny, tiny crepe myrtle that came from one we had at my childhood home. It was probably only four inches high. She died not too long after giving it to me, and through depression and neglection I thought it also died. I brought it in from the winter and kept it in a small flower pot. It looked dead, just like a dried twig in the dirt and WifeGeeding rolled her one good eye at me everyday when I gave it a little water, but one day in spring a leaf appeared. Today it’s growing in the backyard and is taller than me.
