A Senate report claims the CIA misled Congress, the White House, and the public about the true nature of their interrogation program post 9/11. I’m not saying I support it or find it misleading, but on the ‘CBS Evening News’, Scott Pelley played a portion of a 2007 interview he had with George Tenet, then the CIA director.
In light of the report, I found their exchange, which begins around the 55-second mark, absolutely captivating.
I couldn't believe we contracted torture out to a private company.
Until Cheney came along we always said we would never stoop to torturing prisoners of war. Not only was it obviously immoral but the only intelligence we obtained was stuff prisoners made up to stop the punishment.;something former American prisoners of war, who had been tortured, as well as trained military interrogators and intelligence analysts had warned them to expect.
We used to be the good guys.
Clear thought appears alien and cold to most people.
