  • I found out an old college friend had a major accomplishment and I decided to send him a handwritten note about how proud I am of him.  I’m trying to get better at doing things like this.
  • There’s a townhome in Highland Park that has its front yard decorated like an Ebola contamination scene.  Even though it’s not that creative of an idea, I think it’s funny in an immature way.  But if did this and a family member of Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan approached me about it, I’d feel like an ass.
  • Former SNL cast member Casey Wilson’s last sitcom, ‘Happy Endings’, was based in Chicago.  Her latest sitcom, ‘Marry Me’, is also base in Chicago.  Both sitcoms are very similar
  • Alabama man gets $1,000 in police settlement, his lawyers get $459,000
  • When Rick Perry runs for president, I wonder if his opponents will try to say he didn’t handle the Ebola situation well.
  • A 17-year-old senior at Kilgore High School with leukemia isn’t expected to live much longer, but the school was nice enough to hold an early graduation for her.
  • Something for fans of the history of local wrestling – Wrestling event honors David Von Erich
  • Things I didn’t know about Del Frisco’s before reading this article: (1.) It was founded in Louisville, KY (2.) Its original Dallas location is where Bob’s Steak and Chop House now stands on Lemmon Ave.
  • I had no idea the Sacramento Kings use to be the Kansas City Kings.
  • Florida woman sets roommate on fire after argument about spaghetti
  • GIF – This dog failed at trying to turn
  • Today’s dose of ‘MURICA! – Little girl devastated that she won’t meet George Washington
  • I caught a special on the B-2 stealth bomber on PBS:
    • All missions start and end from Kansas City.  So if they need to bomb an area in Libya or Iraq, they fly continuously from KC and back, of course with midair refueling.  Pilots have stories of flying a bombing mission and coming back home to see their child’s sporting event.  Families are notified when the pilot is no longer in combat danger and on the way back home.
    • There are a total of 20 of them, the only one not based in KC is at Edwards AFB.
    • Pilots describe the cockpit as feeling like they are inside a minivan.  There are two seats up front and a flat elevated area in the back with a toilet and microwave.
    • They have a two person crew.  On long missions one pilot is encouraged to slept, though adrenaline usually keeps that from happening.  One of the original pilots bout a folding lawn chair from Wal-Mart for a little under nine bucks and used that to sleep on.
    • The special made me look up the Stealth Fighter (F-117 Nighthawk).  I don’t really pay attention to these sort of things, so I was surprised to find they are no longer in service, retired in 2008.  The F-22 Raptor has taken its place.

  1. RPM says:

Both Happy Endings and Marry Me are by David Caspe.

  2. Uppercase Matt says:

"Alabama man gets $1,000 in police settlement, his lawyers get $459,000" — that's why nobody studies for years and takes a bar exam to be an Alabama man.

" I found out an old college friend had a major accomplishment and I decided to send him a handwritten note about how proud I am of him. I’m trying to get better at doing things like this." Yeah, I'm still waiting on that.

"Former SNL cast member Casey Wilson’s last sitcom…" On a related note, SNL viewership on October 11 was the lowest in 40 years. I think they need new writers.

"When Rick Perry runs for president, I wonder if his opponents will try to say he didn’t handle the Ebola situation well." He will handle it the same way he always does:if things go bad, blame it on Washington. And if things go right, we don't need Washington telling us what to do.
