New Lost Theory

This is a very busy week for me, so posting is going to be very sporadic.

But the good news is that Lost comes back on tonight, and for all you fellow fans, here’s a new theory that one of my readers sent me that you might find interesting, just read after the jump.

Well Season 6 is right around the corner and with that here is my new Lost theory for season 6.  I haven’t quite figured out how it all ends yet but I’ve stumbled on to a few things that are interesting.  My new theory revolved around this link.  It is a big picture theory.  I’m not going to go into specifics about each of the characters.  I’m just going to explain what I think will happen over all.

It’s a page in Faridays Journal and it’s also on one of the papers that Caesar found in Ben’s office.   If you look at it you’ll notice that it has lines labeled imaginary space, real time, space time, and imaginary time.  It also has several circles 3 of them are labeled event A, B, and C.   First off some of this is based on actual physics.  There is such thing as imaginary time.  It’s in a nut shell what would have happened if you made a different choice.  It’s similar to a parallel universe.  For example if I bought a different house instead of the one I’m in now then that time when I did that would be in a parallel universe or imaginary time.  Here is a link to Hawkings theory of imaginary time.

How this plays into Lost in my opinion is quite interesting.  If you go back to the journal link you’ll see that imaginary time, real time, and two other lines all connect to event A.

Lets start with Real Time.  Real time is what we currently know about Lost.   You can move backwards or forwards on the Real Time line like they did in season 5.  In Real time what happened happened.  They set off the nuke creating the incident.  The electromagnetic field contained the blast and the Darma group had to create a hatch with a button to be pushed every 108 minutes.  In a sense they created their own destiny.  I think all of them except Juliet will disappear and end up at some other point on the time line.   It could be the future or the past.  My big theory on Real Time is that on the island they are caught in a loop.  Everything they do causes the same out come which is the plane crashes. I think this based on the conversation that Jacob has with the other guy who I think is the smoke monster.  Here is the clip again.

The man in Black says “They come fight, they destroy, they corrupt, it all ends the same.”  To which Jacob replies “It only ends once everything else is progress.”  Ok so in my thinking they are talking about human nature.  What Jacob says is what intrigues me.  The words it only ends once and everything else is progress.  That got me thinking progress what does he mean by progress?  Is the object of the people being there to get them off the island or prevent them from going to the island?  What are they progressing toward?  What is it that they have to figure out?  The it hit me.  They have to figure out how to change or stop the loop.  The only other way out of the loop of course is for the characters to die.   This is the big picture of the show.  I’m working on how the events with Locke and Sun’s group relate to Jack, Kate, and Sawyers group more specifically later.

Let’s look at the line labeled Imaginary Time.   You’ll notice that it comes from a circle in the top right and leads all the way down to event A.  I believe that the starting point for the Imaginary Time is that the plane didn’t crash and the island may or may not exist.  I think this is the time line we will follow in Season 6.  Why is this so important?  It’s b/c according to the Journal it has an effect on Event A.  Now the question arises, how do they get to Event A and also how do they know about it?  Here’s my theory.  Jacob touched Kate, Sawyer, Jin and Sun, Jack, Hurley, and Locke.  When he touched them they became aware of both time lines.  In other words they will go to the island and help the people from the Real Time line get out of the loop.  It’s like seeing Back to the Future from George McFly’s point of view.  He is afraid to stand up for himself and then his son from a different reality to him comes and changes his future ever so slightly.  That is essentially what I think is going to happen.   In effect what I think will happen is that the Imaginary Time line and the Real Time line will merge creating a new time line which is similar to both but brings everything in the whole story of Lost to a close.

I can not wait for Lost tonight. My wife and I are cramming in the DVD of season five before tonight's premiere. We just have the two hour season finale left, which we will start while eating dinner tonight. It should end in plenty of time before the premiere tonight.
