Bag of Randomness

  • I have a season-pass on my DVR to record ABC World News, but yesterday I wondered if it would still record because the title of the show has changed from ABC World News with Charles Gibson to ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.  Just as I thought, it wouldn’t record, I had to reset my season-pass.
  • I still question ABC News for choosing Diane Sawyer as I thought they would want to choose someone they knew for sure would be in that anchor chair for more than a decade.  I also remember her taking time off when JFK Jr died because she was too emotional about the event, and the lead anchor is suppose to be able to succumb those kind of emotions.
  • While watching WFAA last night, Shelly Slater has a very poor newscast.  Instead of saying “tea party” in a news segment, she referred to it as “the Texas T-E-A party.”  Later during an interview with Congressman Mike Burgess she asked him how long will it take for the House and Senate to merge the proposed bill.  He jokingly said five years but she took him seriously.
  • My fortune cookie mentioned that an opportunity will present itself on Tuesday.  I never had a fortune cookie state a specific day before.
  • One of my readers last year introduced me to the preaching of Rev Adam Hamilton, a Methodist pastor in Kansas, and I have been hooked ever since listening to sermons online and ordering some of his DVD’s.  I recently read that he will receive the distinguished alumnus award at the Perkins School of Theology, which is part of SMU.
  • We were married in Perkins Chapel btw.
  • On the news I saw Obama make a surprise visit to a Boys and Girls club where one boy gave the president a shirt to give to his daughters – that was kinda cute.
  • I love how the Cowboys, notably their big stars, visit local childrens hospitals this time of year.  It probably done mostly for publicity, but I’m sure it means a lot to those kids when the likes of Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware walk in.  Heck, even Nick Folk made the trip and got cut a few hours afterwards.
  • I was lucky enough to get a card from Chris in Chicago yesterday.  He was nice enough to write a very kind letter and it turns out he’s been a reader for years.  But before the card was mailed, Chris mentioned that the chinchilla got a hold of the envelope.
  • I picked SisterGeeding and her fiance up at the airport last night.  That was easy, the challenge was trying to find where their dog was shipped.
  • The cool part of being in an airport is to see the joyful reunions.
  • The not so cool part, lots of unsupervised kids.
  • Saw two female twins, probably in their early twenties with long red hair, dressed to match from head to toe.  They were real attractive, and I was tempted to take a picture for the blog, but was afraid of being labeled a perv and didn’t want to make them uncomfortable.
