I think the Iraq and Afghan war should be considered two theaters of one war. Surprising that World War I and the Civil War were relatively cheap in comparison to Vietnam and the Iraq Wars [even in 2008 dollars]…must be the heavy reliance on material, in particular an Air Force, in later wars. I believe I read that we use one private contractor for every soldier in Iraq. I’m guessing the contractors don’t come cheap either
