Obama/Osama Church Sign Causes Controversy

A sign is causing heated arguments outside of a church in Jonesville.

Pastor Roger Byrd of Jonesville Church of God put the sign up which reads “Obama Osama humm are they brothers?”

Pastor Byrd says the sign is not meant to be racial or political but rather to make people think.  “His name is so close to Osama I have a feeling he might be Islamic therefore he doesn’t recognize Christ,” Pastor Byrd said.

Barack attends Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

Eugunia Foster is offended by the church sign.  “I’m embarrassed and hurt.  I’m surprised a small town like Jonesville still has this separation.  It is racial and hatred,” Foster said.

Pastor Byrd told News Channel 7 he would ask his congregation to vote on whether to keep the sign.  They voted unanimously to keep the sign up Sunday night.

Jonesville Church of God does not have any African American members.

What utterly unbelievable logic. Feelings do not translate into facts. Especially feelings based on a similar arrangement of letters. This is how a person qualified to lead a church makes decisions? A person who influences and teaches groups of people in the name of a ‘God of love’?

Pastor Byrd… your name is very close to ‘bird’, therefore should we attend your service carrying bags of sunflower seeds and be careful to not go too close to your young? It would not take much effort to learn that Barack is a Christian.

What kind of pastor would endorse such an ignorant sign? Is there no accountability in his church?

How do you humm “are they brothers” anyways? Should I do it loudly or in my head?

Jonesville-Jonestown. Will his congregation drink the Kool Aid….hmmm….

I am no expert but I’m pretty sure Islam recognizes Christ as a prophet ,but just not the equal of Muhammad.

Perhaps Pastor Byrd should spend less time trying to compare letters in people’s names and more time learning the English language. That sign is disgusting and embarrassing. He, and all of the members who voted to keep the sign, should be ashamed of themselves.

    This really is shameful.

Uneducated & ignorant… this blows my mind.
