  • The ball is in your court, Republicans – to whom a lot is given a lot is expected, or something like that.
  • Last night Chuck Todd stated that the Republicans will not have to worry about losing the House until 2022.
  • Weird – When Wendy Davis voted yesterday, she wore a Wu-Tang Clan’s logo shirt that had her name on it.
  • If you are curious about the order of candidates on your state’s voting ballot, here’s a good source. In Texas, is the order of votes for party (governor) in the previous election.  In Oklahoma, it’s drawn by lot in each county.  In Idaho, is their Secretary of State’s discretion.

  • Brittany Maynard was the woman in the news with terminal brain cancer that moved to Oregon to take advantage of their Death With Dignity law, and she helped lead the campaigned for assisted suicide or death with dignity or whatever you want to label it.  I think her campaigned was stymied with the majority of her pictures showcasing her as young and attractive, looking nowhere near death.  I know she did some video interviews where she didn’t look as strong, but I bet most people only know her from her healthy pictures which caused many to think she was calling it quits way too early.
  • U2 To Perform On ‘The Tonight Show’ For Full Week of Nov 17 – I bet we hear a lot of acoustic versions.  The band is also on the latest cover of Rolling Stone which I just picked up yesterday.
  • Speaking of that magazine, here’s a list they compiled of bands that have had no breaks ups, no lineup changes, no hiatuses, etc.  U2 and Radio Head leads the pack.

  • I always enjoyed listening to the Car Talk guys on Saturday morning so it was sad to hear the passing of Tom Magliozzi.  It always cracked me up how these guys who sounded like bozos where MIT grads and professors.  He died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.  Respectfully, I only thought that disease was related to memory loss, so I’m not sure how one can die from it.  I also thought there website would mostly be dedicated to his passing, but it was rather nondescript at the time of this posting.  The best tweet I saw about his passing was from a fan that said something to the effect of, “Mourners can pay your respects at the Will Diggum and Barry M. Deep Funeral Home and the estate will be handled by the law firm Dewey Cheatum and Howe.”
  • Chris Rock may have said it best during his SNL monologue – Jesus was the least materialistic human in history, yet the celebration of his birth is the most materialistic event in history.  That came to mind watching all these Christmas commercials yesterday.
  • For Halloween next year, I might just go Christmas caroling instead of trick-or-treating with the kids just to beat everyone to the punch.  Actually, I’d still be trailing a lot of businesses as I saw some Christmas stuff go up after the back to school sales stopped.

  • I wonder what voting will be like in the next 25 or 50 years.  Will voters still have to physically travel to a location or will they somehow be able to vote by some other means, maybe a device and platform that’s not even invented yet?
  • NYMag.com has a great interview with Jon Stewart and is surprisingly filled with a lot of footnotes.  What’s cool about the footnotes is all you have to do is hover over them as opposed to scrolling to the bottom.
