  • There’s a lot going on in that picture. It was taken at the Texas Pinball Festival in Frisco, Texas. DaughterGeeding is playing a Incredible Hulk pinball game while being filmed by the news, and that’s the original Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, right above her head. Autographs from Ferrigno were $40. We didn’t get an autograph. Oh, and the news didn’t include DaughterGeeding in their segment when it aired. It was neat seeing her get excited about possibly being on TV and then watch her react with an “oh well” when it aired and wasn’t included.
  • That picture was only possible because of the kindness of BoN reader, Rusty, who couldn’t have been friendlier. It was easy to notice he’s a major celebrity in the local pinball arena (everyone knew his name), and he sported a green shamrock suit the entire time. His wife, by the way, wore a tutu, and totally (sham)rocked it.
  • There were about 450 pinball tables and video games combined at the Texas Pinball Festival, all free with the price of admission,
  • At the event the kids had a caricature drawn of them together. DaughterGeeding loved it and remarked how happy she was the artist drew her teeth crooked like they are in real life, not perfect like others.
  • Apple has a new commercial featuring a high school year wearing overalls. I guess overalls are back in style, but I think the kids are wearing them tighter.
  • KFC Canada has a cooking school the public can attend.
  • Lower ranked Texas A&M blew out higher ranked North Carolina, in Charlotte. That’s basically a home game for North Carolina. That’s an impressive win and I guess keeps Bush41’s bracket in tack since he sentimentally picked them to go to the championship game.
  • Bill O’Reilly doing movie reviews for WFAA back in 1976.
  • Well, his wife found the dog and reported it – Football legend Jim Brown rescues Stan Lee’s dog
  • I watched the opening to the television drama that airs right after ’60 Minutes’. It had a Rob Lowe themed party, everyone dressed as a different character the actor has portrayed. Funny bit.
  • Actress Jayne Atkinson is on two Sunday prime time dramas back-to-back, but on different networks – ‘Madam Secretary’ and ‘The Walking Dead’. Many will know her best from her work on ’24’ but I really only took notice of her on the last two seasons of ‘House of Cards’ in which she plays the Secretary of State. She has an exceptional amount of poise she brings to her characters. Interesting fact about her, she offers coaching lessons via Skype.
    • Work on monologues, graduate school auditions, and/or answer questions about the business. For more advanced actors, work on coaching to your weaknesses.

  •  It’s confirmed, U2 won’t have any opening acts for their upcoming tour. Despite of that, they still like starting late, about a half hour. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s people showing up late for meetings.
  • The US Navy’s newest submarine comes with an Xbox controller
  • When I first saw this photo it had the caption of “March Madness summed up in one picture.”

  • Wholesome presidential ribbing, I love it. On Twitter, nonetheless.
  • I really don’t use the word “nonetheless” in verbal communication.
  • I always thought those paintings of presidents of the same political party playing poker were hokey, but they have been updated with both Obama and Trump. Each, though, has a distinctive woman in the background. Per the artist (an independent-minded Midwesterner who’s a fan of both Reagan and Bill Clinton):
    • “That will be the first Republican female president and the first Democratic female president,” he explained. “As I was doing the painting, I was thinking that these guys are kind of intimidating in a way. That’s the kind of woman that will be our first woman president; she’ll walk right up to that table.”
  • College kids can’t stand U2. U2 is played a lot going from and to commercial breaks during coverage of the NCAA men’s tournament. I love it that this annoys the college-aged crowd.
  • I got lured into the Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech game, it was dang good. Tech is a fun team to watch.
  • I’ve had a bum knee for the last five years or so and have simply tolerated it. You can hear a grinding sound as it bends and there’s an especially sharp pain when I walk down stairs. Sometimes it will simply buckle, but not all that often. Since I’m over my deductible, I decided to get it checked out and see a knee doctor. The x-rays show my bones are good, but I might have a torn ligament and will have an MRI tomorrow. But before the MRI, I’m going to have a sonogram of my kidneys performed. I’m not trying to sound whiney or seek any sympathy because I don’t feel down about any of this. If anything, I’m glad I’m getting things addressed, a lot of which I’ve simply put off.
  • An hour before my kidney sonogram, I have to drink 32 ounces of water.
  • This day planner has perforated corners so you always turn to the current date.

Surgical Resident Breaks Down 49 Medical Scenes From Film & TV

Annie Onishi, general surgery resident at Columbia University, takes a look at emergency room and operating room scenes from a variety of television shows and movies and breaks down how accurate they really are. Would the adrenaline scene from Pulp Fiction actually play out that way? Is all that medical jargon we hear in shows like Grey’s Anatomy and House true-to-life? Is removing a bullet really a cure-all for a gunshot wound?

Language warning.

  • As I stated earlier this week, the kids are visiting their grandparents in East Texas. It’s nice to see them off their tablets and away from the television and doing stuff outside. This is a picture of them fishing for the first time in their life, being taught by their grandfather and some property they own at what they call “the river bottom”. I believe that’s the Sabine River.
  • The NFL Draft will be held from April 26 to 28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. It would be beyond hilarious if we get a final winter storm of historic proportions that weekend.
  • I’m not a fan of the idea that every child should get a trophy type of thing. Well, maybe not that, but more like all award ribbons should be the same color type of stuff. That came to mind listening to a podcast that mentioned instead of giving a child an “F” for a failing grade, you give them a “Not Yet”. There’s something appealing to that. An “F” kinda feels final, but a “Not Yet” gives the kids something to shoot for, to continue on.
  • Hutchins BBQ will be on the Food Network this Saturday at 2:oo PM.
  • I’m getting to the point in which I think just about any tradition is stupid. So many of them are nothing but false idols. Some folks think the world is going to end if something isn’t done correctly or continually. So when I see something that I know will annoy traditionalist, I start to giggle. Baseball traditionalist are some of the most sensitive folks – Minor league baseball to begin extra innings with a runner on second
  • The Stephen F. Austin men’s basketball will be playing in the tournament and during a news conference yesterday was asked, “What does the ‘F’ in Stephen F. Austin stand for?” None of them knew. Understandable, but funny. I guarantee you if I walk around the Hardin-Simmons campus not one student could tell my what the “-” stood for.
  • I can’t find it, but I thought another university’s female equestrian team reported a sexual assault recently. Yesterday, an incident with Baylor’s equestrian team was reportedThree Baylor football players have been suspended from the team because of allegations of sexual assault involving football players and female members of the university’s equestrian team, a university official confirmed to ESPN.
  • The reason this guy received a message from the future was that he lived in a different time zone.
  • There are some Christians who are very defensive about their faith, especially when science is involved, especially about the origin or creation of the universe. Some of those Christians I should unfollow on Twitter as all they did was make snide remarks about Stephen Hawkin going to Hell and finding out how the universe was really made. Grace and compassion, I miss it.
  • A friend emailed me and used the word “dysgraphia”. It’s a learning disability that involves difficulty in writing.
  • GIF – A dog walking a horse should make you smile.
  • The Trump bothers have changed a lot.
